Someone may benefit from my experience....

Ive learned when it comes to anything important, always call customer service at least 3 times..

I always get different answers and it really fustrates the heck out of me...

But the good news, if you arent due for an upgrade till January, and they say it cant be moved up because its a 4G phone... just keep calling, someone will eventually help you... as they did me after I called 6 times over 3 days trying to get my wifes upgrade moved up 35 days... now we both have nexus's...

100% true

Another thing is to leverage what you have against them...

Learn how to bluff, if you have multiple lines ask that they transfer you to the person you need to speak with so you can cancel all your lines..

If it doesnt work, hang up and call again, its like playin roulette, eventually your number will hit.

Too funny because it's true. My little brother was a pro at this game when he used to play it. He always got what he wanted by threatening to leave.

I don't even know how many phone/e-mail/live chat/Twitter reps I talked to since the launch that all gave me different answers on why my purchases didn't ship out on time as promised. What a cluster****. I've never had to deal with Verizon customer service until last week, and my view of Verizon as a whole is unfavorable at best now.

I would honestly encourage everyone to subpoena a copy of all the notations they have made on your account...

..sometimes you will get a POS rep who will note something on your account like..

"BAD CUSTOMER DO NOT MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS"

and then every rep you speak with from that point on won't do anything for you

Hmmmm....I think as a private citizen I might lack the power to issue a subpoena. And even if I could, there's not really a way to change them.

I called verizon customer service regarding the CH4GE coupon that was floating around. I spoke with one CSR and her Supervisor. They were going to look into the coupon (it was $100 off a 3G to 4G upgrade)

Called me back later in the day, they honored the coupon, and moved my upgrade up 2 weeks. My Nexus is in the mail as we speak. Should have it by tomorrow or Wednesday.

Works for me!

I agree. I called 3 times about the $100 off promo before someone said I qualified. It just shows the lack of communication within that company that has plagued this launch from the beginning.

I felt like one of my kids, if mom says no, ask dad.

I also had my upgrade date moved up a couple weeks. I originally went to the store and they denied me and told me to call CS, so I did and they moved up my date with no questions asked. My Nexus is going o be delivered tomorrow. :)

anyone can go to their county court clerk and have a subpoena issued. If you want to save money on the court fee you can always send a certified letter to verizon's general counsel and tell them to hand over the documents or else you will force them to turn it over via subpoena or discovery...

dont let these bastards push you around, learn your rights, learn how to leverage the legal system to your advantage

I know my rights, I know all about the legal system, trust me. In order to have VZW produce the document through discovery, I'd have to file a lawsuit. That's way too much trouble, considering the filing fees associated with a complaint alone.

$35 filing fee (in my county) you can even get this fee waived in forma pauperis

and there is $0 attorney fees if you have the brains to do it pro se

and honestly, a letter to their general counsels office saying you are going to file a complaint in order to get the documents via discovery will more than likely cause them to just turn over the documents so they can avoid the civil suit

...when it comes to verizon, its no holds bar, they have the best network IMO, and the nexus is the best phone I have ever used, but they deserve to have a few punches thrown there way given the BS they put customers threw with product launches and their incompetent CSRs

Why is the rep the POS if you are knowingly trying to get something you are not due. When you get a phone you sign a two year contract. Not one year and a bunch of ing. Two years. If you cant do that you and know that you will want a phone then stop being a cheap skate and drop the full cost of the phone. This whole "tell them you'll cancel your line," "keep calling until you get what you want," and esp "subpeona a copy of notations on acct" is ridulous and makes you look horribly cheap. Things have a way of coming back around. You do know that the reps you speak with dont set the rules and ulitimately are the ones that will lose their job if you bully them into getting your way, but I guess by your logic that is ok as long as you get what you want, right? Oh, but if you dont then just petition to get your notes so you can see if a rep notes something on your acct. I can promise you everything you do/or try to do is noted and you may get away with it 1,2,3 or even 10 times, but they will catch on and you deserve more than just a note on your account. Ive heard of supervisors that will pick up the phone and cancel lines of people that act that way and its sad that it even has to come to this. Just be a good person and they offer many options to you as a consumer. If you dont want a subsidized phone then buy it at full retail. They offer early upgrades and up until this year even annual upgrades and if that is not enough then you can open a line and even add a dumb phone and drop your data plan and move the new phone to your daily line. All you have to do is call and they will work with you as much as possible. You dont have to always pull something over on someone. Its wrong and it makes you look incredibly desperate. I cant believe i even took the time to write a response and I can care less what you do/or dont do, but to spread what you have learned in this great community is what is wrong as someone has to pay for what you do. You get a new phone and a rep that you bullied into it either gets written up, talked to, or worse fired. Give me a break my friend we are all better than this dont ya think? Maybe you and I have different definitions of what a POS is.

Not only this, but I promise you that companies dont ever have to give you a written record of their records as it is their records and has nothing to do with you. You will never get records like that I can promise you that.

1. Asking to use an update a few weeks early doesn't make you a bad person, its actually beneficial to verizon because they now lock in that customer for another 2 years.

2. Some reps deserve it, i'm sure there are those who are nice, but some reps absolutely deserve it, every one of us has encountered the incompetent rep that either costs us money or a headache.

3. You can very easily obtain records that this type of company keeps on you. Its not intellectual property, its relevant to business transactions you conduct with them and therefore you are entitled to it. The only situation I can think of where you cannot access such records is if the party maintaining them is a law firm and it falls under work product.

4. Please do not try to humanize verizon, or call people cheap for trying to get the most out of them for the least amount of money. We are talking about a cellular carrier I don't think I need ro rifle off a list of all the wrong, unethical practices they partake in.

...they do grimy things to make money for themselves, so its only fair that I can do things to keep money for myself, its that simple, again ...this is a business, not a human being

It's just a cell phone. It's not that serious. Really.
