Verizon Edge Program (Scam)

Are you guys certain the discount continues after I pay off the device? I am on an older plan with 2 lines. I usually use my phone 2 years and pass it on to my second line. If I Activate Edge on the 2 lines (eventual 2 purchases), then I would be having 2 lines with discounts and only pay one device at a time, therefore saving $ compared to the regular Everything plan.

The $25 discount ends one you pay off the device unless you sign up for another Edge plan. I was reluctantly looking to go back to Verizon for the S6 128GB since AT&T just don't have have a date. But now I see the 75% pay off requirement and I'm like are you nuts. Come on, they jacked the ETF policy to where you have to clear 8 months before it starts to discount now the Edge plan is pay off 75% and they keep the device. If you are going to pay off 75% you might as well pay off the balance, keep the phone or sell it. But of course if you pay it off and don't give the phone up to Verizon you can't Edge up for 60 days. Its all in the fine print.

You keep the $25 discount when the edge agreement is completed. You may have to add it to the account.

If that is true, then its an interesting thing for Verizon to do, they are not the ones to give free data to anyone, ever. Had they not done such a crappy move on Edge I would have slightly considered going back only because AT&T can't say when the S6 128GB will be available. But I get rollover data, double data, upgrade once 50% is paid off so really why would I bother.

Who needs new phone each year. It is a way to finance the phone. I would not put money in a phone and give it back. That is crazy. It is not a contract just you are paying it off monthly. There areno etf charges.

Basically Verizon doesn't want people to edge up early,so they do everything to discourage you.

It depends on your wants. In the past year I went from the note 3 to iphone 6 plus to note 4 to s6 edge.

If i did edge i would pay it all off and keep it. Why would you put $$$ in a phone and give it away.

Yeah the 75% edge requirement is horrible. The original 50% and even the 60% was definitely worth it, but not now. I got the s6 on edge for $599 so I'd have to pay $449, then have to give the phone back to edge. By paying it off in full and selling it for $300 8 months or so from now, I'd save $149, and I could most likely get more than $300 for the s6. Obviously edge is now only good as a 0% financing option for full retail purchases.

Can I do this scenario: get on an edge plan without purchasing a phone, by bringing my own phone?

When my 2 year contract ends in June I just want to keep the phone and wait for the Note 5. While waiting I want to get the edge discount.

You will get it at end of contract because of month to month. You do not go on edge to get the promo. Call in and ask for it.

Question: I have an $80/month family plan I share with my sister ($80 after taxes, fees, etc). When Verizon did some promo, we got a $10 discount on the bill and extra GB of data dropping it down to $75/person per month. If I do Edge rather than upgrade, do we get the $15/month discount divided to both lines (additional $7.50 off for my half) or does it all apply to just the person doing the edge program? Purely just seeing whats the better deal in the long run. I don't mind upgrading and staying in another 2 year contract. I should also mention I have an $85 gift card I can use if I upgrade and have to pay the $199 upgrade price. Thanks for any insight!

It is only the line that does the edge. For family plans 10 gb or more will get a $25.00 discount. I think this may be a good way to. Make sure to keep phone atleast to it is payed in full before starting a new edge plan or Verizon asks for it back and that is a rip off.

Yeah, once you go month to month, make sure they give you the "no contract" line discount, the same one they offer with the edge program. You can't start an edge contract though without getting a compatible phone along with it.
