Went to check out the HTC Rezound at one of my local VZW stores and asked them a few questions about the it. My first question was can I watch movies and view apps on my big screen TV through HDMI. The guy said yes you can and I then asked if I need anything additional to view the via HDMI. He said no you don't it's ready to go. WRONG!!! answer. You need a MHL adapter in order to view through HDMI.

Next question was will beats audio work with Rhapsody Subscription or IHeart radio? He said yes it will and that is also WRONG!!!. You can only use beats with music that is downloaded and in your phones memory(i.e Itunes, Amazon MP3 etc...)

Last question was the best. Does this phone come with Gingerbread? He said whats Gingerbread as laughing at me like I was crazy.

So I asked them if they are hiring? He said no and as I was walking out the door said you should cause you don't know anything about your phones.

Sorry that was sort of rude but if you are trying to sell someone a phone and make some commission, you should keep up on things like going on this site, Phonearena etc....and know your products inside and out.

I went into a VZW shop at lunch today to ogle the new device (buying this Friday) and the first one I visited the guy didn't even know what it was. He asked me a couple questions and I was trying to help him understand what it was and he finally said "No, we don't have anything like that, and we wont." Then proceeded to try and sell me a DInc 2. I instantly felt insulted. I don't really know why.

Second shop I went to I walked in and 4 employees were standing there chatting, and greeted me. I asked if they have the Rezound in stock and one guy perked up. "Yeah, we have the demo unit right here, let me check if we still have some units in the back. Do you have any questions about it?" The guy was on top of his game, came back and let me know he has half a dozen. When I buy the phone I will try to get it from him if I can.

Guess in summary my point is: Don't lose faith in big red, just because some associates only want to put in their hours and make what they can. Even if you have to look you CAN find someone who cares about more than the punchclock.

Worse is only their phone support. I watched a VZW salesperson today trying to get some info, being sent from one extension to the other, and having to repeat numerous times what he wanted. It's pathetic. If not for terminating and moving my four lines and for Rezound, I'd have bolted for US Cellular in no time.

A few weeks ago I went to a Verizon store to ask if the HTC Thunderbolt could surf and talk at the same time under 3G. The representative said no, so I said "do you mine if I will try?" He said no and I proved to him that you can because of SVDO. So he said "oh... yes you can, but just on 4G." 4G is not available where I live and after I showed him you can surf and talk on 3G he said, "we're not supposed to tell that to the customers, but yes, you can do it..." OMFG! When the manager passed by, the rep told him "did you know that you can surf and talk at the same time with the Thunderbolt?" the manager said "yes, but it must be a 4G phone and you have to be on 4G".... What can I say? Complete IDIOTS!

There are three corporate stores where I live. Two have high turnover which leads to very uneven service and expertise. I avoid those stores. The Mall Kiosk is actually the most stable and helpful; I only shop there.

either keep your crying to a minimum or switch carriers. There are idiots everywhere and apparently you have nothing better to do with your day than to run around and try to match wits with someone over a phone that totally consumes your every waking moment.

Well said! Seriously, does coming on here and degrading people really make you feel better about yourselves? First off you certainly don't know these people well enough to judge their intellectual prowess. Their lack of knowledge could be attributed to poor training, lack of available information, etc. These are just people trying to make a living. Verizon employs, as does ANY business, a mixture of people with different skill sets. Some care more than others, some are better at their jobs than others. That's business, that's life. To post something called "Verizon employees are idiots" because of one interaction with one person concerning one product is rude, ignorant, and just plain ridiculous.

Try having a carrier out & out lie on you. I cancelled my AT&T account becaue I got sick of my bill jumping up to ridiculous amounts for no reason. Yesterday I got a letter from these s telling me that they cancelled my account because I hadn't payed them!
I can't believe I was gonna go back to those incompetent microcephalic asswipes.

That's good, I had to inform my Verizon store it was supposed to be on sale the day it launched and that I would just get it online. He said they had them in the back and brought one out for me to look at her figured out while I was playing with it he could sale them. The Monday launch screwed with everyone I guess.

As with any company, there are going to be employees who simply don't care. How they get hired is really surprising, particularly how the hiring process with Verizon is extremely extensive and intense.
They have numerous interviews along with a background check and drug testing. Their training is one of the best and if the reps don't care, trust me, they won't have their job for very long.
Verizon takes care of their employees. They get insurance IMMEDIATELY. They are paid well.
A company gives the employees great tools and education, but it is up to the employee to make it work. It is like the old saying....you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

Young people unfortunately don't have a high work ethic. If you are fortunate to not fall into this, then great. I am a manager and I have issues with my staff lacking professionalism. I have had to talk to them. I hope there is improvement. Coming into a store as the new manager, trying to clean up old habits and not be the enemy at the same time.........and that's why the manager prior to me is no longer there.......so I am hoping because they can be good if they set their minds to it.

I went to check out the Rezound on Monday and the Verizon store had one out for demo. But it had no wifi connection and no mobile network connection, so I couldn't do squat. I even tried to access the Gallery to see how pix looked on the HD screen and the Gallery was empty!

So all i could do was go from one home screen to another and I snapped a picture - lame! Got no impression on how good this phone was at all.

I told one of the reps about it and she tried tinkering with it for 5-10 minutes and nothing. They don't even know how to set up their own wifi????

And while I was looking at the phone, they had a Droid Razr demo next to it and it was all messed up - wouldn't register a click on an icon hardly at all - had to press the screen really hard at least 8 times to just get one app to open. So all i could do on that phone was just go from one home screen to another.

How the heck can Verizon expect folks to buy/upgrade when they can't even properly test out the phones in the store!!! Fail!

Wow, sounds like that whole crew needs an enema. I hate when I know more about a product or technology than the guy trying to sell me said product.

I don't think that one can generalize, but I ran into quite a few on my very first day migrating from BB and trying to figure out my first Android. Some reps are just impatient. Some are simply rude. Some are well meaning, but just don't know the device. Some, otoh, are very sure, but the next level support techs say that they're plain wrong and even ignorant. It was a very, very hard day.

I should add that, at the end, I went to a local VZW corporate store, and the salesperson, who helped me there, was great: very knowledgeable and willing to spend enough time to get me out of the woods. :)

I'm not sure why someone would call anyone an idiot merely due to said employees lack of training. At some point we were all technological neophytes and all would do well to remember that.

I think it's one thing to say you don't know, another thing to just make up crap and answer off the cuff with whatever you think will help you with the sale. With that said, I've dealt with some Verizon employees who are either ignorant or purposely lying, but others that have been truely helpful. Same as with any organization. I've been lied to a lot of times by sales people, whether unintentional or intentional. What I have learned is, whatever they say, if it's important as a feature or a requirement for you, get it in writing from them. I bet they will do a double take when you ask them that. In the case of Verizon, if they told you it had the feature, and it didn't, and you had written confirmation from an employee of theirs, then they would have to take it back without the restocking fee. If you don't get it in writing, it becomes a he said she said situation...good luck with that.

The essential part of one's training is to be realistic of the limits of his/her knowledge and, instead of speaking from the top of the head or of beating around the bush, to refer the customer to someone who knows.
