Galaxy Nexus- First Thoughts/ Opinions/Bugs

As Someone who is going to soon have my Nexus, and knowing there are many of you who were able to go right to the store at 8AM this morning, i figured i would start a compile list of the things about this phone that will discount the beliefs in unicorns. Every phone has bugs... so it would be helpful to have a list we check off as Google fixes them, or just find out everyons initial thoughts on it... I don't have mine yet, but will after i buy it in a few hours.

POSSIBLE BUGS:
Group Texting?

Re: Galaxy Nexus- First THoughts/ Opinions/Bugs

I ordered mine online, so I won't get mine until at least tomorrow (probably Monday, though, unfortunately :(), but I'm curious about a couple things, to anyone that already has the phone. For one, does the pull down notification area have "quick settings", like in CM7? If so, can you customize which are available, or no?

Also, I'm guessing the answer to this next question is no, but does the stock launcher allow you to change the icons for apps on your home screens? I like doing this on my current phone via Go Launcher, so as to "theme" my phone, but I'd kinda like to play around with the stock launcher on the Nexus for a while.

The volume is quite odd on nexus. Google claims to have a "fix" on this bug but I have not tried that solution yet.

Played around with one this morning.
I was not able to zoom in on some sites. I wasn't able to zoom in and see larger text for ESPN.com mobile site. I'm able to zoom in just fine on my current Android phone.

That's not a bug. Moto browsers are the same way; they don't let you zoom on mobile sites. HTC browsers like the TBolt do. It frustrates the hell out of my wife that she cant zoom in on the mobile Accuweather site and I can with the TBolt (she has some vision problems).

The fix I did for her, is to install the Desktop Toggle feature for the Dolpin HD browser. She just toggles to desktop mode and uses it that way..... Not optimal, but if you are on 4G or WiFi its fast enough.

Here's a question for you: Does the Nexus "snap" text to fit when zooming automatically like our TBolts do? Or do you have to double tap an area once zoomed?

Just getting the feel for it. Did not set up with my Google account yet as I was hoping to unlock the bootloader. When I get to the bootloader the fastboot command is not working..stuck on waiting for device...

Anyway...still playing...

Any word yet on how many fingers multitouch supports. The Droid X only supports 2 at a time. I know some newer phones support up to 5. What about the GNex?

i saw a thread on another forum (think it was xda) and it supports 10 and the owner of the phone wasn't sure if it could go higher because 10 was the highest amount he could try with all his fingers and thumbs.

The weather in the news and weather widget won't load. Other than that, it's really awesome. I mean the browser is really fast. The keyboard is fantastic. The screen is excellent. I'm impressed.

how do you go about changing the LED light for notifications? do you need an app from the market? I picked mine up on my way to work but get horrible service in my building so theres not too much I can do with it right now. Also how about all of the camera effects that they showed in one of the videos?

no can't do it. Left without buying it. Staying with my bolt for now. Speaker also very quiet and screen was dim looking even on Max.

Re: Galaxy Nexus- First THoughts/ Opinions/Bugs

So far I love it but I was able to crash the launcher by trying to remove the Messaging icon from the dock and delete it from the homescreen. It hasn't happened since then though. My only other complaint is that it seems as though the system volume is EXTREMELY low. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to hear my notifications but I definitely plan on keeping the phone.

Re: Galaxy Nexus- First THoughts/ Opinions/Bugs

I find the touch on the device is far superior than my droid incredible and even a bit better than my sisters incredible 2.
The home screen doesn't rotate, hope they change that I read somewhere there is a fix or update for that come at some point though, either way not a biggy.

did you go into the system volume settings. the max volume for notifications comes stock set at the highest volume "2 notches down" from the phones true max volume.

that is what vibrate is for. i havent had my volume past vibrate on my phone for 3 years. If you work in a professional environment this is key.

BUG:
Plug in headphones at office so that I can discreetly pick my ringtone and notifications. Sound plays through headphones like a boss as expected. Thought, "Damn that sounds loud and so full". Co-worker taps me on shoulder and asks me to turn my sound down. Okay.jpg

Choosing ringer and notifications with headphones plugged in does not disable the sound being played through the speaker.
