Verizon Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile?

Hope you can help. Instead of buying from Expansys, my dopey friend is feverishly search on Craiglist for someone trying to sell their Galaxy Nexus. He wants to buy one and use it on T-Mobile. I told him that i dont think it works and that he needs to buy a factory unlocked one but he seems set in his ways. Can someone confirm this?

The LTE version will not work on T-Mobile. He needs the unlocked GSM version. No way around it till T-Mobile launches the Nexus.
