Verizon Galaxy Note 2 - Installed the 4.3 camera apk and photos are way crisper

Wow, the software makes a big difference in the quality of my photos. I can really be happy about taking pics now.

How do you get this? I went "about phone" in the settings menu and clicked "software update". It said no new software available, but my status last checked was May of this year until I tried to update just a minute ago. Have they really not released any new OS updates since May of this year? Also, how do I see what software my camera is using? I couldn't find an "about" button to click in camera settings.

Probably sideloaded an apk from somwhere like xda.
All I want is the photosphere function that I had on my Gnex...I refuse to root my Note 2 until after we get 4.3
