Verizon Galaxy S20 Ultra software help needed.

Also 5g only shows when I'm using the phone and 4g when I'm not but I like 5g on all the time. Is this possible? Because that option is not on to turn 5g off.
You have to see if a toggle is for 5g in settings and then connection. Also it's normal to see data and wifi at same time.

Do you have a direct link to the t-mobile room? Can't find it on Samfirm and frija is not downloading correctly and sammobile says 5 hours.

Samfirm or frija should definitely have it

With regards to 5G. You will receive 5G always if it's strong in your area regardless of being on unlocked or T-Mobile firmware. It sounds like 5G isn't strong in the area your using it in which will cause it to jump back and forth from 5G to 4G LTE.

Ok, so my problem is a bit different. I actually have a unlocked s20 ultra 5g that I bought unlock straight from Samsung. Had T-Mobile and worked in 5g just fine, even though speeds really sucked for me, but I even hade the option of 5g in the settings to choose from. Just went over to Verizon because they have best signal where I live. I got 5g sim from them, live in a 5G area, but no 5g or option to enable 5g. Global, LTE, etc are only options. Tried everything, but no one can explain why it wont work. Even tried to reset my phone, start from scratch with Verizon sim in phone and still nothing. Can anyone help me out? Is there something I'm missing? and yes, I pay for the 5g plan, have the 5g sim, etc. @mustang7757 any suggestions?

You need a software update to enable their "nationwide 5G" (if you have the very sparse but faster mmWave 5G where you are that would work without the update). They started rolling this out the day after they flipped the switch on their "nationwide 5G" a couple of weeks ago.

That update has rolled out to the Verizon version of the S20 line, including the new S20 FE, as well as a few other handsets.

I don't think the unlocked S20s have received it yet, though.

So, the only thing you can do is wait.

You can flash to carrier firmware , I believe Verizon version 5g is working on the carrier

That's true. The carrier firmware would pull you the carrier update to activate their 5G.

Given how reports of the nationwide 5G is tending to be even slower than 4G LTE right now, it might not even be worth it to flash, though.

Yeah. I might just wait. Any idea when the unlocked versions should be getting the update? Its crazy how you know about the update, but no one at verizon knows this. Even their higher tech tier, but thats normally how it goes doesn't it. People figuring out things before their paid tech support does. lol. I may just try and see how it works. Is there an actual firmware Im looking for since I have the unlocked s20 ultra 5G?
