Verizon getting ripped apart on FaceBook

ignorance? you dont get it. your overlooking two critical pieces of info. they released date by proxy via the exclusive retailer BB (if you think BB just came out and said something not discussed or approved by VZW, i dont know how to help you!!!! they get and activate the phone from VZW!!!!) they also released the whole sooner rather than later statement. after those two events, they simply cannot sit completely and totally silent!

I agree wholeheartedly! They released way too many false dates to Best Buy. VZW needs to take responsibility for this, for both customers and Best Buy. Customers have a right to know why their preorder from almost a month ago has gotten nowhere, and Best Buy deserves to know why they have been given so many wrong dates by Verizon.

Best Buy was not spreading false or misleading information. They were acting on what VZW told them, following their timeline. Best Buy is getting the heat (wrongfully) right now because it seems like Best Buy is doing whatever they want and taking preorders and giving out false dates. Best Buy is but the middleman and can only do what Verizon allows them to do...they can only announce what Verizon tells them.
I disagree. They got egged for the 14th release date, then they blew it again with last Saturday's ad. I may not be a big business college grad but common sense means "Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you." After the first (14th) fiasco I would *never* put up another ad until the week following an official release meaning VZW is actually selling the phone. Best Buy may be getting screwed by VZW but they're turning around and screwing with customers - that they DO have control over. It's quite obvious that release dates mean nothing sometimes. If they signed a contract that says "we get first dibbs on sales" then it's their own fault that they are doing what they're doing. Twice no less. I have no pity for Best Buy in this.

I see where you're coming from. Best Buy isn't screwing with customers, though. They're just as clueless and corporate is just as pissed at Verizon. I mean all this bad rep is on BB now because of Verizon's failing. Verizon tells Best Buy improper dates, and that's that. Preorders were authorized late Jan/early Feb by Verizon because the anticipated release date was 14th, and was communicated as such to Best Buy. Once the whole 14th mess occurred, Verizon communicated a 14 day delay (because VZW's new policy is 14 days to test out the phone/service...2/10 = iPhone 4 launch, 2/24 = last day to return iPhone for something else). That 14-day delay was what caused the Tbolt in the paper ad.

Go ahead and hold your pity for Best Buy, but I'm sure we can agree that this is simply Verizon's failure to communicate with both consumer and retailer.

I'm no expert, but i've done some searching, AT&T covers 97% of all americans LMAO, no but for real, there's good data coverage in a lot of places, were still 3G here, but AT&T won't release LTE until 2013, there focusing on going from HSPA to HSPA+ then LTE..... from what i have gathered :) and back when it was Cingular i loved it, personaly for me, SPRINT was the best and fastest for Data/Internet, without being said

VZW RELEASE THE THUNDERBOLT BEFORE LIGHTNING STRIKES YOU!!!

I was not talking about the ads. As a matter of fact, I was talking about the know-nothing reps giving dates to customers that they pulled out of their asses.

EVERYONE here should know better than to listen to anyone EXCEPT Verizon. If Verizon hasn't announced it, there is absolutely no reason to believe ANYTHING anyone else says.

A BB rep told me that the Thunderbolt should of been released on the 10th-14th, but it wasn't because "APPLE" stepped in and said you can't release the Thunderbolt at the same time as the iPhone.

This is going to be my 1st Android phone (been with iPhone at ATT for a long time now). I just wanted to know, does this Thunderbolt release rank #1 of all time anticipated or something or are the forums like this for every new Android device coming out? This is really spiraling out of control and fast... I remember the iPhone 3G was nuts, but it was organized confusion. This whole release on the other hand is simply just straight up confusion. Having said that, is it common for all this drama to occur over a android device (pre-release day)?

I know the Incredible release was much like this. Not the revolving release dates so much as the interest in it. I was strictly on androidforums.com then and the Official Incredbile thread was up to around 1000 pages by the time the phone dropped. We never had any idea of a release date until a few days before preorders started. The phone released 10 days after preorders started.

I'm sure we can agree that this is simply Verizon's failure to communicate with both consumer and retailer.

That's between VZW and BB but the consumer is feeling this *because* of BB's ads. BB doesn't have to put any product in a print ad or on their website for sale but they did anyway fully knowing that they got messed with at least once previously.

It's not that I don't think VZW has a big part in this, they do ... but BB is just as much if not more at fault for advertising a product for sale at least twice and then apparently having the rug pulled out from under them. They apparently don't feel the need to be cautious and not feed the animals but they continue to do so. They may have to wait on word from VZW but what they do with what they have is up to them. they've chosen to print a product for sale before they have what I consider to be a formal release - which is product for sale in the manufacturer's store. This boils down to a bad bet and greed to be first. Well, you can see what wanting to be first is getting them.

I'll bet they've given po'd customers a ton of $25 gift cards or something to try to soothe the savage beasts that are coming in to buy a product they can't have. So on top of making fools of themselves and p'ing off the consumer they're also reducing their own profit by having to do things like this. I just cannot feel sorry for them under those circumstances.

Actually unless the pre-order was done with a Verizon rep at Best Buy or at a Verizon store, those are on Best Buy. Unlike the Incredible there have been no pre-orders through Verizon. From what I've heard Best Buy was NEVER given an exact date for the launch. Best Buy ran with it though to hype it up and to get business. Since Best Buy, even in the latest circular, never gave a release date I see nothing that would lead me to believe I'm wrong. So again people are getting mad at Verizon for delaying something that was never said to have launched yet.

hey im just woundering about the lte sd card slot that it has do u have to buy that or is it something u really dont need

i cant believe anyone would believe this. do understand big business? millions of $$$ at stake and you think best buy decided to take preorders based on a rumor from VZW? it is prepostorous to even think that. you cannot carry and sell a product that the vendor has not told when and where and how you can sell it. VZW IS THE VENDOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Agreed, it is blatantly obvious that Verizon told best buy the 14th, same goes for Amazon.. Verizon than delayed it for various reasons that we are not 100% certain of.

I have a feeling that this second time is the last time it will happen. The false advertising will not occur again, I can say that for sure. The problem is delays are regular. BB took Verizon's word for the 14th and went with it; Verizon failed to meet expectations. However retailers are aware of regular delays that come with highly anticipated phones. Thus this week's ad was printed again, assuming that the SECOND date Verizon had given Best Buy was an official one. At this point, Verizon no longer has any credibility with Best Buy in regard to dates. Just like consumers, BB realizes that delays are normal and they roll with those delays to the best of their ability. Normally, however, there's just one delay. VZW has two, almost three, pushed back dates now. BB will definitely be taking a more cautious approach now. They didn't take an initial "cautious" approach because delays are normal.
However, this second push-back is unacceptable and BB is definitely taking a more cautious approach.

Haven't heard too many tales about pissed off customers though.

From what I've heard Best Buy was NEVER given an exact date for the launch. Best Buy ran with it though to hype it up and to get business.
They were given an exact date, then a notice of a push-back, and then a second date, and a second notice of a push-back.

More business? What does that entail exactly? How would BB benefit by advertising a release date that was wrong? BB does not make any profit or anything off mere preorders. And if you're talking business as in publicity, they could have easily pulled the "we're the only retailer to take preorders" card and not listed any dates.
