Verizon HTC One M8 Lollipop Update Thread

Guess I got away good. Phone gets 2 days easy on single charge. Zero other issues since I did a reset. Which was kinda forced, but was also planned to be done upon finishing update and rebooting etc. Never made it that far as I got errors on bootup. Reset it and its been perfect. Battery life is somehow better than before where I was already impressed with 2 days on charge.

I'm not going to continue with what issues my phone is having after lollipoped it. But the bottom line is: I was trying to avoid a master reset, which is a laborious option. BTW, quick start disappeared as an option, too. Please feel free to advice on a master reset and pitfalls like should I remove the SD card and should reset be done in boot mode or after phone restart...TIA, Chuck

After seeing a botched reset wipe the SD card on my mate's Note 3, I always suggest removing the card now even though it's not supposed to wipe that. Also use Helium and HTC Sync to backup everything. It was surprisingly painless when I did it to my phone.

Its very painless nowadays. I had mine up and running with everything setup how I had it after like 10 mins. Ive reset alot of phones in my time so its very very easy to do now. Takes longer to download all the apps, but I also go through cleaning up the apps I really dont need anymore so end up with alot less clutter.

I use the Tasker app to automate features such as start GPS automatically when starting specific apps. Looks like Lollipop allows some apps to automatically start GPS without having to have a 3rd party app do it now. I did have to disable that auto-GPS Tasker task before it would work though I think it has to do with security levels changing.

I have an app called e-Secure 1.0 that I use to control my home security system remotely. It no longer logs in. I just get Error: Invalid Pin message. Spent over an hour conferencing in with Protection 1 and with Alarm Net without success. They recommend that I contact Verizon. Don't think that will go very far. I believe this has also got something to do with how security is handled in Lollipop.

Any ideas???

Ok, I finally did a reset on my8. You guys were right. It's not as painful as it used to be. One item thought, so far...I can't find USB debugging anywhere, was it disabled? I ask because HTC sync manager does not see phone connected. So I'm thinking another reset may be required....

I have been having issues texting after the update and have not really had time to search around so I apologize if this has been talked about before, but has anyone been having issues with their texts and the app itself lagging after the update? I don't know if it's because I have so many texts in the conversation because I only notice it with the people I text often and frequently, but everytime I try to send texts to multiple people, there is horrible lag inside of the app, taking seconds to load the conversation, not responding to my typing, then 10 seconds later the phone vibrates and enters everything I typed at once, then freezes again until another 10 seconds later it inputs everything.

I have not tried deleting the entire conversations yet because I didn't want to lose it all, or doing a factory reset I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced any issues with it. These conversations never lagged or gave me issues before the update so that's why I don't know if it really is the amount of messages in it or what.

Also is there any way to downgrade, or if I do a factory reset will it put me on the original OS version?

Your only hope to downgrade is if your phone was already s-off and you can flash back to Kitkat. A factory reset will still leave you on Lollipop.
