Verizon HTC One (M8): SIM card error?

I don't recall off hand the exact update but it was mentioned as a post on android central so if you do a search you should find it. However, I'm on VZW so if you're not, it's possible there hasn't been an update for your phone yet.

Yeah, I am on Verizon had an update about a week ago or something like that. Might be that same update.

I have the update from vzw and still getting this error. Wife also gets it on her m8. We notice we get it when we send a picture via text. Anything we can do besides get a new sim (which doesnt seem to fix the problem) or new tray (which also doesnt seem to fix the problem). :'(

The last time I got the error was when I initiated a phone call. Other than that I can't find one action that triggers it. At this point, I can't tell if it's even a hardware or software issue. The only connection I can make is that I've never received the error while in my residence. In fact, I've never received an error anywhere other than while in my office/office bathroom which makes me think it may be an EM intereference issue which still doesn't really tell me if it's a hardware or software issue.

In other words, I'm clueless! :)

I understand. When everything is said and done the problem has largely gone away since the OS update and the new SIM tray and otherwise I love the phone so I have relatively few complaints. Won't stop me from complaining tho :)

Nothing wrong with complaining, I'm really good at it too! Just wanted to clarify that it isn't just an HTC issue, that's all

Yeah you have a point, but coming from the HTC one m7 which had no issues at all. I am not used to experiencing this. I was hoping for a product that would be similar or better which is why I upgraded.

Actually the m7 had more reported issues then the m8 so far

Yes, same problem. They first exchanged SIM card. Didn't work. Next gave me a whole new phone. Didn't work. Now they are telling me they won't even give me another HTC One M8 because there are too many complaints. So now I have to decide - Samsung Galaxy S5? iPhone 5S? MotoX? LG G2?
I am sort of heartbroken because the speakers are SO GREAT on the M8. Changed my life in the few brief days I had with the M8. I tried the Galaxy S5 but struggled to hear with those speakers on speakerphone in car. Too much struggle!!! I'm so sad. Oh HTC.........

So should I even bother with getting a new tray and sim card? Can you test it by sending a picture via text while not on wifi. Feels like that's what triggers my problem.

Got my M8 for a month and it's been working great until today. Had the Sim card error at least 30 times!

I have this issue. I will be taking the phone back on Monday and request a new one. I can't afford to have this problem. I almost got fired today because of this phone.

But will a new phone fix this? Both my phone and wife's phone are getting this error.

It's happening to me too! Usually happens when I'm in a low signal area. I also noticed that it happens when I try to use the myVerizon app. Every time I open the app I get the SIM card errror about 10-15 times in a row until I quit the app. I have since disabled the app but still randomly get the SIM card error about 1-2 times a day.

I do think it's related to weak signal. I was getting the error at work but after I went home the errors reduced significantly.

3 weeks in and now I have the same problem....
Swapped out sims, but the problem remains.
Funny and disappointing this didn't appear till after the exchange period..

Is it because you're on WiFi at home?

Quite possibly. I'll be checking if the problem appears today while I'm out.

Could it be the latest software update?

Try the myverizon app guys see if it triggers the SIM error. Since disabling it my errors have dropped.

I could be paranoid but also after disabling it my data speeds have gone up. I suspect it might have been throttling me.

I was out all day yesterday and did not see the sim card error once. I have the verizon app enabled on my phone as well.

I have also had this issue since day 1 and I also have noticed that this issue happens when you are in a low signal area. Also, I get a lot of no signal issues when in a low signal area and sometimes I have to reset my phone once I get to an area with better signal as the phone doesn't always pick up on the improved signal. Love the phone, but this is dissapointing.
