When I had a 3G phone, I never had problems with service...EVER. Now that I have a 4G phone, I have noticed that the 4G seems to go down almost every day, leaving me with an expensive 3G phone. Everyone knows that voice is tied to the 3G service, so it never goes down. It just seems like Verizon really doesn't care about the 4G service at all. They use it to sell phones, but when it comes to actually providing the service, they don't seem to care.
