Sigh...here we go...we are Charlie, big red is Lucy, and the GN is the football.

See what I did there?

I just talked to the VZW marketing employee that officially announced the Nexus on twitter about launch and she said that she has heard absolutely nothing about launch getting canned or anything along those lines. She told me she would let me know if she hears anything about it. So maybe that's not what Panda meant by "things maybe turning to crap"..... who knows though

I think the Panda was talking about the possibility of an early November (the 3rd) release going sour and it has been pushed later in the month to give the Razr/Rezound room to breathe.

I'm not sure what he meant by that but I doubt things are turning bad. My thought chalks it up to speculation. Around the time he said that, it was reported they felt jammed up & wanted space between the 3 launches. Considering, they moved up the pre-order date of the Razr by a week. To avoid a major bottleneck for all 3 releases. That's a good sign to me. Seems like they're working from a timetable, trying to keep on schedule by making room for the other 2 to follow close behind in the time alotted. But then again, that's just pure speculation. I've been wrong on many an occasion, about my 1 penny + 1 penny= my ?.02. So what do I know.

Yeah you're probably correct, but I know the majority of the people would like him to clarify that since we're all wondering what it meant. It's either one of two things we know that much. Verizon customers are just absolutely insane over this device because we deserve it more then anybody. To be honest it's the only thing keeping my VZW line active at the moment.

Typical Verizon, they only want to push the phones that they can bloat all over (except the iphone but that thing sells like crazy).

Verizon's DROID line has been getting worst and worst... Droid Charge, garbage, Droid Bionic.... I think Verizon's best phone right now is the iphone and the Droid Incredible 2 which for some reason is damn good and gives no issues at all. That's sad.

You beat me to it. I guess the turtle doesn't always beat the hare.lol

I keep hearing about the bloat and why verizon places it on phones, money. It makes me wonder how much money we are talking about here. Verizon make most of the money on rate plans I would think and may not make any money on hardware after the bills are paid like retail space, commissions and advertising. When I look at my "Blockbuster" bloat app I would guess that like me most people have never opened it. So the question is, how much does blockbuster pay per phone for that to be placed there? Number of handsets X $ (insert price) =$$$ It just doesn't seem like it would add up to that much compared to the RMR of a rate plan. Any ideas on what this equation looks like?

I don't think there's anything out there that details exactly how much they make from those kind of pre-loaded app deals or any stats on usage of Verizon services like V CAST or Navigator. But it must be substantial or profitable enough for them to keep doing it.

I am sure they don't make too much money off these deals, but to them it is basically "free" money and there is no way verizon would turn down "free" money, even if it wan't a lot, but for reference microsoft paid verizon somewhere between $550 and $650 to make bing the "official search engine of verizon" for 5 years

A lot of people have stated that Verizon's strategies are not understandable by the general public, so I have to lump this in with that. Personally, if I have a store and 3 awesome phones to sell in it, I don't space them out. I put them all out on display as quickly as possible and let people start buying them. I give you three great reasons to spend money in my store, not one or two.

While this is true, I could see them not wanting to have a phone with absolutely no bloat right next to one with bloat at the exact same time. For instance I'm sure they'd like to sell more phones with VZ Navigator since that's $9.99 a month. A lot of non-techy users may not know that all Android phones come with a free navigation program or they may not realize that it also has turn by turn voice navigation.

In all honesty, the only bloat where I think Verizon probably makes a lot of money is VZ Navigator.

One reason why I believe Verizon will push back the release of the Galaxy Nexus is because it's overshadowing the other phones. A quick Google News search over the past week tells the story.

Number of hits (for the past week):

Galaxy Nexus: 42,000,000
Moto Razr: 1,000,000
HTC Rezound: 600,000

Verizon has a huge hit on their hands, but they'd rather push the bloat phones for a variety of different reasons that we've discussed to death. They're making a calculation that people will just quit waiting; however, they're wrong. A lot of people who wanted the GS2 are holding on for the Galaxy Nexus (myself included).

The Galaxy series is one of the best phones in the world and it's coming to Verizon last because they're such a pain to deal with.

I really don't think they're gonna hold it back. November 10th will probably be the date.

Those numbers are skewed because 2,000,000 of those Nexus ones are probably from me alone lol

I don't exactly hear an outcry from peeps in the Asian LTE markets having the same issues w/ their "next generation" chipsets & battery life, do you? We're further behind than just a generation.

Our Asian friends happen to be using the same first generation LTE chipsets. They don't have some miraculous 10th generation technology that we don't.
They just happen not to cry and whine as much as we do. :'(

Uh oh. I'm hoping that this person is confused.

At this point I'll be astonished if we see this phone before Thanksgiving. It's not in Verizon's best interest. When something isn't in Verizon's best interest to hell with what the customers want.

What's even better is the LTE GS2 is set to arrive on Nov. 6th on AT&T. Verizon's inability to release devices without headaches is maddening.

We really need AT&T to improve their network so Verizon will quit being such a pain.

I hope we see it before Thanksgiving. I'm using my my mother's upgrade and I was going to give her my Thunderbolt when she comes to visit from Ohio during Thanksgiving week. Otherwise I'll have to ship my Thunderbolt to Ohio or she'll have to wait until we go back to Ohio for Christmas.

Being in research...

SGN is a worldswide name, the other two are smaller scale audience.

Point remains, though, Great post.
