Verizon LG G2: Very upset after KitKat update. What can I do aside from venting to you guys?!!

Having issues with the phone kicking over to 3g and not kicking back over to 4g until a reset or toggling airplane mode off and on.

Update: of course factory reset corrected the problem.

I've done a FDR on mine, but so far it hasn't really helped the battery life. It also seems reception is worse. I'm probably going to go by a Verizon store and get a new sim card. Hopefully that will help, my phone is almost unusable at work.

My G2 on Verizon is 100% Flawless After the update! Without doing any resets... If you are having issues, You need to do a reset, because chances are the UPDATE did not apply correctly and WILL fix itself during a RESET

What I've noticed is more RAM usage (not necessarily a bad thing) and slight RAM "leakage". Throughout the day my RAM will drop from 700MBs or so down to 400s by the evening. Along with this I've seen slight UI hiccups, but nothing deal breaking.

I also had some terrible battery life after update. I did a factory reset and couldn't be happier. everything so far is working as well or better than jb. Im rooted and xposed and didn't have to use a few xposed modules after updating as it appears lg or Verizon removed all the superfluous notifications from jb.

It is normal for RAM usage to increase through usage, as apps are cached and help in memory until they are needed, or released when memory is needed for other apps. Android is Linux based, and unused RAM is wasted RAM in Linux, your RAM usage should normally run quite high with prolonged usage but you should see little to no negative effects.

What I'm saying is that before KitKat, my free RAM always hovered around 600-700MB.

With KitKat, it hovers around 400 and doesn't ever reach back up to 600-700 without a reboot. Not a bad thing, but it does appear KK is more RAM heavy.

The UI hiccups I'm experiencing now aren't very welcome though (this is why I've been rebooting, not because of the increased RAM usage). 4.2.2 was like butter.

After the update, my texts will not go through more often than not. I can't connect to some websites. Facebook often has timeout issues. I can't even run Speedtest at times as it will say connection server issues or something like that. All this while having 4 or 5 bars in 4G LTE. Anyone else experiencing the same issues? Any suggestions other than throwing it out of my FJ Cruiser at 80 mph? Okay...done venting for now.

Did a FDR fix your problem? Because I've reset mine and I'm still having similar problems as the ones you described

I did 2 FDR's to no avail. I took it to the Verizon store and a new sim card didn't work. Finally got a refurb and so far so good. I delayed the update until tomorrow. Is there anyway to prevent the update from going through?

Yep did a reset and things got better. But I finally isolated the problem to the Verizon Voicemail add-on. It comes on randomly and starts blinking. G2 gets hot. CPU utilization Peggy all 4 Snapdraggan PrOCs to 90%+. At first last week I thought "well KK upgrade is finally using processors more efficiently"
Not! But maybe this attempt caused problems with some apps. I can see where one of the music complaints could be related to this bug as well as video. If you see blinking of upside down glasses and your running app of vid or music. That might be an indicator.
Try Reset but make shure you back to 2 of Verizon back up tools including new cloud tool. Why the photos did not restore. I had to use the pre KK app to snag the photos. Retired and no longer get much VM so I uninstalled, Turned G2 off for one min. Turn back on. You can also try switching on Airplane mode and back on after 1 min.

Now:

I now just keep delaying the update and have no problems. My download Speedtest numbers are 11-25 Mbps, upload 8-15 Mbps. All apps and data functions are fine. I don't really want to set a delay every day on the update. Any ideas from you guys who have experienced similar problems? Thanks in advance for your help. This forum is great!

I've been using the Verizon Voice Mail add-on with no problems, so if that is the issue, it is based on an interaction with something else.
