Verizon lists out of stock vs. preorder

As of yesterday (I think; maybe the day before?), Verizon's site now lists the watch as "Out of Stock but coming soon", no more pre-orders allowed, and no more 11/19 estimated ship/delivery date. Unclear whether existing orders are affected, they seem to indicate "in process" (not cancelled) per a reddit thread. No change in pricing, still $449 on contract (with a $175 termination fee LOL) or $499 outright.

I don't know if that means the launch is delayed or if it means they just sold out of their allotted pre-orders.

I'm in the same boat. I procrastinated getting it yesterday afternoon. Tried later that night and was a no go. Since it says out of stock I would assume that they are just out of the preorders. However, I do find it odd that they ran out of both the black and white at the same time.....weird. might be delayed.

Let me know if you find anything out.

The unlocked version is 399 on Amazon, and seems to have the Verizon bands.... May be a much better option for VZ customers.

I'm on AT&T, but their website says the same thing, preorders with shipments on the 19th. But I went to an actual AT&T store just so I could play with one before I ordered it. The guy working there said he didn't know if they had any, but went in back and they had several in stock! So obviously I went home with one! So I think you should either call the store or just drop in.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already called all verizon stores around me and they all say they don't have them and don't know when they will get them. I think att is different because they started selling it sooner.

Yeah bummer. I was REALLY surprised they had any in stock too. Good luck!

Pretty sure that watch is GSM bands. Not CDMA.

Sorry, I thought also CDMA because it mentions WCDMA:

- Unlocked Version. This product is compatible with the following GSM bands and related GSM SIM cards: WCDMA B1, B2, B5 & LTE B2, B5.

I can't find the watch on the LG website anymore. It was there yesterday. No mention of it today. Weird......

Verizon uses LTE Band 13 for the watch, so I don't think the one on Amazon is compatible with Verizon. I had pre-ordered the one on Amazon, but ended up cancelling the order once I figure out it wasn't going to be compatible.

I suspect they're adding it to the main smartwatches page; it hasn't been posted there yet on LG's site and the old URL has been redirected. It'll show up soon enough I'm sure. Note that they now have a support section for the W200V (Verizon version) though it isn't populated with any documents yet. This, along with no update from Verizon, leads me to conclude that the Verizon launch is delayed (rather than just being sold out of preorders). I would guess either LG hasn't been able to deliver the CDMA version yet, or Verizon is trying to install their Messenger+ app and something isn't working properly. They have to use this app in order to deliver synchronized text messages and calls to the watch, so without it there will be a lot of complaints.

Incidentally, I'm trying to figure out if synchronized messaging and calling is ready for rollout. I installed Messages+ on my Nexus 7 2013 (just updated to Marshmallow) and while SMS/MMS works great, call quality is totally unacceptable. I would assume the Nexus 7 has the hardware capability, and I'm on cable internet with good wireless - standing right near my wireless router - but the audio is choppy. This is all speculation at this point, but I haven't read much about Verizon Wifi calling yet and I think it's fairly new. They're probably not going to release something until the basic promised functionality works.

Well...bad news if you choose to believe it. Called my go to verizon store and spoke to an employee. He said LG has put out a statement to all verizon stores saying a "hold" has been put on this watch because of an "issue until further notice". He said the statement did not say as to what the issue was. All pre-orders will be canceled and the launch date moved to a "none determined status"

Normally I put 0 stock into what a verizon employee says but he sounded very competent and knew exactly what I was talking about. This makes sense though. LG removed it from its website and verizon is "out of stock" for both the white and black version.

Like I said this is nothing official but I did believe the rep.

Well that would suck, if true. Right now my order still says processing with an estimated ship date of tomorrow. We'll see what happens with it.

Awesome. Thanks for the response. Let me know if there is a change. Whether is ships or is canceled. Thanks.

I can believe everything but the part about LG removing the watch from the web site. Considering AT&T is still selling it, that's got to be unrelated and I suspect just a random webdev error. I would believe there's an issue between Verizon and LG, though; probably relating to carrier testing. That's a bit of a bummer as I was pretty excited to see how things went with Verizon users, but understandable that they'd rather work a major kink out before releasing it. Imagine hundreds of people buying it and then all returning it immediately because (for example) calls don't work? Then you have hundreds of customer returns that can't be sold as new anymore and the hassle of processing all those returns.

Interesting that pre-orders haven't yet been cancelled; maybe they'll keep them queued up or contact people asking if they want to wait it out? They might be holding to see if the issue can be fixed relatively quickly before just cancelling everything. I mean, $500 for each watch has to be decent margins. :)

All great points. Nothing was mentioned about the website. That was just my observation. It is key to note that as of right now with Verizon you would NOT be able to make phone calls away from your phone. Verizon says that will be coming soon. Probably from an update through verizon messages. You can already do that with Verizon tablets. However you would be able to use text messages using your number through verizon messages.

You do have to admit though....it is really weird that there is NO trace of the urbane 2 on LGs website anymore. Not even when you search the website.

No problem. I'll definitely keep you informed. I'm hoping that it doesn't get cancelled. Now I'm checking like every hour lol

Lol sorry! Didn't mean to freak anyone out. I hope the guy was wrong. I was planning on getting one tomorrow.

Well....I have called 3 other verizon stores to ask about the Urbane 2 and all are saying the same. Launch date has been moved to a later date TBD. Disappointing.
