I just wanted to put this in front of all of you just in case you didn't know.

http://www.droid-life.com/2012/10/1...-selling-your-data-please-opt-out/#more-86072

Droid life has a good write up on this and I haven't seen it on AC yet. The gist is that Verizon is snooping your traffic and selling the information off to whomever. This is an opt-out service and you can do so by logging into your Verizon Wireless account and going into privacy settings under "My Profile" . As far as I'm concerned this is worse than the CIQ garbage. Verizon should have learned their lesson when that scandal hit and they said "Hey we don't use it". In any case, head over to Verizon's site to opt out of their snooping. What you do on your device is between you and your conscious.

Need to check this out...

Its the same thing google and others do though. Nothing is private on devices...

Thanks Mr. Smith for the update. All my phones were opted out with the exception of the newest I took into my family plan.

I actually don't mind that they want to take aggregate data - so long as it is mutually beneficial. the way it sounds, only Verizon is beneficial. i would be willing to let them collect aggregate data if they give me a discount per line to compensate me (i can't even say that with a straight face).

You know, they are always saying how they are trying to help us - like with the share data - so that we can share data amongst devices. of course, just last year, they wanted to simplify things for everyone by eliminating the annual upgrade, but still giving us the 1 year contract option. Then again, a few months after that, they got rid of one year contract, since...as they say, not many people are using it. of course, they never advertise it - i paid $30 more for my tbolt for 1 year contract over 2 year contract, i don't think $30 for me is worth tying me up for another year. then of course, they complicated things again by introducing tiered data.

really, they are all over the map and just say whatever to justify their changes and make it sound like they are helping us. Sure, some people may gain from the changes, but trust me, they are doing the changes since they gain the most in the long run.

Thanks for the reminder. I did this months ago when I switched from Sprint but just added my girl to my account so went back in and changed the settings for her line also.

Thanks for the info...I'm guessing this is why I've gotten calls and texts from like timeshares and such.
