Verizon: Moto X (second generation) Launch

Just went online to check my order status. Never got an email, but my phone was shipped and will arrive by 4:30PM on 9/30, two days earlier than the estimated ship date. Nice work Moto!

Verizon online deal. Black 16G 2nd Gen Moto X for $50. Just bought mine. Should be here by Tuesday.

Forgive me, but how'd you get it for $50. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one, but I see then at $99 online.

He might have a discount on his plan. I see it for 50 as well and have a discount through my work

Re: Moto X Live on Verizon

it cannot and will never be able to (nor will other future released phones on verizon, is my understanding)

You couldn't be further from the truth. Verizon has already said it will be available to do in a fall update, just not at launch.

I was given a delivery date of October 1st, but I checked my order and it has already shipped and fed ex shows delivery on Tuesday the 30th. I would recommend all of you to check your order status, because I didn't get an email that it Shipped.

Obviously white front are a big reason for the delay.

The post I was responding to asked "can the Moto X do voice and data *without* volte". The answer to that is no.

Once volte update is available (presumably before Dec 21 when winter starts) you can enable volte and get voice + data, but there are tradeoffs there such as dropped calls when you leave 4g coverage.

Good thing I'm always got 4g coverage everywhere :)

I will be interested to see how true all of this is. I have a hard time seeing Verizon enabling volte without the ability to transition to 3g. While Verizon's coverage is definitely better than anyone else's, this would create a nightmare for customers in areas where 4g is spotty. There is honestly no benefit to them enabling volte at all if that were the case.

Re: Moto X Live on Verizon

I ordered mine on Friday around 11am:

Memory - 32 GB
Back - Slate
Front - White
Trim - Royal Blue
Engrave
Greeting

Got a estimated shipping date of Oct. 8 and got my "we're assembling it" email today! Really hoping it comes in sooner than later :)

It's not an opinion, it's on Verizon's site

Will my call be handed off automatically when I move from the 3G network to the 4G LTE network and vice versa with Advanced Calling 1.0?

No, calls won’t switch between 3G and 4G LTE networks. If your call starts on the 3G network and you move to a 4G LTE coverage area, your call will continue as a 3G/CDMA call. However, if your call starts on the 4G LTE network and you move to a non-4G coverage area, your call will drop.

My note 3 and 2013 x are frequently on 3g on my house, and 4g half a mile away. I also see 3g often around Grand Rapids. I took the opportunity of my contract expiring to fire up a nexus 5 on AT&T and play in the unlocked GSM world for the first time because of this issue. If it turns out to be nothing I'll grab a moto x 2014 and move back to Verizon (who I like) when the shipping times are shorter.

I frequently tether or use voice and data so I would need to turn volte on. However I frequently move around and speak to clients so I'd be dropping calls 4-5 times as I drive across the city. I'll wait for first hand reviews before dealing with that.

FYI to everyone,

keep in mind also, those of us on verizon want to activate VoLTE in our My Verizon settings online will need to remove 2 features:

* Caller ID feature
* Ringback tones

So, if you're on vzw website, in your add/change features, and you are looking for Advanced Calling aka HD Voice aka VoLTE, you need to first remove those features above

Verizon has not yet enabled VoLTE, even if you disable these features. No ETA on when they are going to release it.

It's already available on the Galaxy S5, LG G2 and one other phone I can't think of. Several threads in the S5 forum with people testing and using and reporting results. It's just not available on the X yet because the software has not yet been enabled for it.

So i'm concerned. I'm on with Verizon Cust service and an hearing some disheartening information. It's critical that i have the ability to stay tethered while on a Call and without Volte enabled i'm dropping data when someone calls. But from what they are telling me is that even with VoLTE enabled unless the caller on the other end is on a VoLTE enabled phone or provider the data will not be able to be used simultaneously. I'm still researching this but i wanted to see if anyone else has had this conversation.

Otherwise I LOVE this Phone. just cant use it for business.

Umm the customer service is wrong, at least from my experience with VoLTE capable phones. I have iphones and 2nd gen Moto X phones. The iPhone 6 line on Verizon is already VoLTE as mentioned. If you turn on VoLTE on the iphone 6 models, simultaneous data and voice works when calling any phone (even old landlines) as long as there is LTE coverage. I tested this myself at iPhone launch with my 6 and use the feature regularly. Of course you don't get HD voice, etc unless you're calling another voLTE customer but simultaneous voice and data is fine. After not having this feature ever on VZW iphones was nice to see. The 2nd gen Moto X should function the same after its "fall update" to support voLTE.

Hello !

New to Android and this forum.

My initial question is ...

How do you close down apps that have been opened on my Moto X 2nd Gen?

.... sorry... converted iPhoneist
