Is there a way to clear all recent app with out swiping them one at a time? My previous phone, G2, when I pull up the recent app list, there was an option to clear them all at once. I looked around the screen but do not see that option on the Turbo. Is there an app/widget that can do this automatically and not requiring root?

No. Well, you can restart the phone. That will clear them all.

I have that feature on the Samsung Tablet I have and wish the Turbo had it as I use it all the time on the Sammy

I normally don't care to swipe them all way, but today an app was keeping my phone awake for 3 hrs even though I was not using the phone, clearing the 'Recent App' list stop the wakelock problem. It would be nice to be able to do this quickly rather than one at a time. No, rebooting is not quicker than swiping away.

I didn't say it was quicker - I said that it would close all of the apps without having to swipe them away one at a time.

The list of recent apps isn't a list of apps that are running, it's just the ones you ran most recently. If an app is running and you wipe it off the list, it's still running. Taking an app off the list doesn't close the app. Force closing it does. (Unless the app is badly written, if it's not doing anything, it's sleeping, so it's not using battery. If it uses battery when it's not being used, find another one to do that function that was written properly.)

No, in my experience, swiping an app away generally closes it, too. Just as an example, if I am running the app Talon and change the theme, it tells me that the theme won't change until I swipe it away in the recent apps list. And, that message is right - it uses the old theme until I swipe it away from recent apps and then re-open the app.

See 4.0 ice cream sandwich - What actually happens when you swipe an app out of the recent apps list? - Android Enthusiasts Stack Exchange for a good discussion about this.

It is true, though, that if you force close an app from settings / apps, it will still show up in recent apps.

On my G'Nex (traded away today) I had to swipe apps away all the time. If I had more than 3 or 4 it would start lagging too badly. Or heavier apps like Ingress I would have to swipe out of recents about every 10 minutes of use. In that example, swiping it away I would need to "acquire position" as they call it, but if I hit back or home then went back into it, it would pop right back up. So, yes, swiping would close it too (at least on my old phone)

I've seen this keep awake business with the Amazon app the past two days. Just a bit ago I went to check my battery, and it was low compared to where it would normally be. The Amazon app had hardly any CPU usage, but in the keep awake field it said 9 hours! And it was like that yesterday as well (I think it was around 16 hours yesterday). It wasn't in the recent apps list, but showed up in my battery list. I force closed it yesterday and it was back on today, and I never went near any of the Amazon apps.

I noticed the same thing so I disabled it. apps that don't play nice don't get to play at all.
