Verizon Motorola DROID Turbo Trade in "Any" smartphone for Turbo?

Did you need to trade in a charger with the phone? Thank you!

Don't need the charger. I had mine, but Rep said they just needed the phone. But, phone needs to boot up in store, so you will need to charge it up a bit before you go.

I need to get a new phone, but I am not up until next month. Does anyone know if there is a time limit on this trade in offer?

I would love to get rid of my old Sprint Evo 4g and get $100 toward a new Droid Turbo.

Does anyone know about stock vs custom ROMs? I have 2 old Droid X's running Cyanogen I would love to trade in without having to factory reset. Thanks!

When I traded mine in, the guy just went to look for the imei number, and asked me what the model name was. As long as he's able to navigate to the phone information part I think you should be OK.

I just called a local Verizon store and interestingly they told me it had to be on the current line (could not be a random smartphone laying around) and would have to be stock OS. She also mentioned custom roms voiding warranty which of course ran out years ago anyway so maybe she was misinformed/confused. Just wanted to share...

Some additional info. If you have an older smartphone lying around, you need to call and have it activated before you can trade it in for the $100. Such a hassle for same results....

wow, that's a lot stricter than what I went through just a week ago, I brought in my old galaxy nexus that haven't been used in 3 yrs, no problem trading it in, showed up as $13, he selected the promotion and boom $100 credit applied to my account.

Here's what on their adverstisement "Trade in your old smartphone for a minimum of $100 VZW gift card toward the purchase of a new DROID Turbo." It does not say active, just old smartphone. Seems like whoever you talk to is misinformed.

Don't as for details, just give them the phone and say this is the trade in for the promotion. If you ask a lot of questions you will 1) possibly confuse the rep, 2) give reason for them to deny your trade in.

Yeah I know what you mean. My issue is that I am trying to do this for 3 new turbo's with 2 phones being traded in, both running custom roms and only one being "active" at the moment. This involves my wife and my father, so by the time I get all of us in the store with phone...it will be messy if issues so I wanted to show up prepared as much as possible. Thank you for your feedback though, every little bit helps once you get into the store ;)

what phones are they trading in? I know this may complicates things, but I was at Target store the other day and they have cheap prepaid phone marked down to $10-$15(check out the clearance section near the electronic area), wish I had saw it before I traded in my galaxy nexus. If you're worry about Custom rom then maybe you should buy these clearance prepaid phones, and use them as trade int, be careful on opening it, keep the packaging together, if Verizon doesn't accept these as trade in then package it back up and return them to Target.

Decent idea. I have spoken to VZW online and on national customer support and they do not have any of these silly requirements the store is claiming to have. I am going to restore the phones to stock just for privacy but if they want the phone to be "active" well they can go ahead and switch my line to it, then trade it in, and switch it out agin, i am not worrying about it before hand. I am starting to think I just found a cranky sales person or maybe a store with a cranky manager. Either way, if they want to sell 3 new phones to me, they better start playing nice.

YES!!!!!

Any smartphone, as long as it meets the following conditions:

Does the device turn on and off?
Is the LCD screen free of cracks and functioning correctly?
Is the device and connecting ports free of visible corrosion and water damage?
Is the battery present?
Is the battery present?

You will receive a MINIMUM of a $100 credit, and the device does not even have to be a Verizon phone.

Thanks I am going to buy a $10 prepaid smartphone before hitting the store tomorrow, should net me $90 cred so my Turbo should cost < $20.

I appreciate the clarification.

At this point I would like to trade in or give away my original Turbo. It automatically deletes mail while you are looking at the list!
