Verizon Note 3: When will we have KitKat?

New to my note 3 (into my second week) which is supper smooth and very responsive in comparison to previous phones (I'm coming from the Droid razr). There was a time when a software upgrade brought with it dramatic changes and improved user experience. My questions are, will kit kat dramatically improve what seems to me to be an awesome device already? What are the reported bugs in the current os which will be addressed in kit kat? I'm content so far and afraid an update might be a step back or sideways at best...

As much as I'd like to see a stable update that fixes bugs and brings useful new or enhanced features/functionality; your concern about wanting to know what's new in 4.4 is one I share. This may provide some ideas, although not all may apply to US carrier based phones
Here’s Samsung official Android 4.4.2 KitKat changelog for the Galaxy Note 3 | SamMobile

Ha 2 years ago Verizon released an update for my phone at the time (LG intuition) and it completely fried it! 6 month old device was perfectly fine until they killed it with the update. Then they sent me a refurbished device. I was very upset. So yeah they can release bad updates! I'm glad this doesn't happen often because it was pretty bad.

The LG Intuition was unstable out of the box. That phone was major disappointment.

He said the phone was fine until the update (6 Months) so that observation doesn't really matter - at least not to that specific user.

Improved Memory Management (they also unlock more RAM for app use, you will gain over 300MB of usable RAM on the phone :- P ), Performance Improvements, Ability to Set a Default SMS App if you are into that, Camera Shortcut on the Lock Screen (this to me is worth it - I don't want 5 shortcuts on my lock screen), Camera Improvements, Universal Mobile Printing Support (not only in selected apps that support the Print Driver installed).

No, it's not a HUGE feature update, but there are some things that do matter in the update that will improve the phone for a lot of people.

I read online that Verizon has started rolling it out to some people, has anyone confirmed this?

Can I ask where you read this online? Or a link please?

I agree it wasn't a great device but it worked until they killed it with a bad update and then sent me refurbished piece of junk. A few months later I moved onto a note 2. The notes are superior in every respect. That's why I get crazy about updates. Don't want my device screwed up.

I am not having any issues with my Note3. I have heard issues with KitKat. Verizon won't release a bad update. I sold wireless 5 yrs. I am glad they don't release updates immediately.
why have something that's a problem?

My thoughts, exactly, Jude. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Oh I understand completely. I am just saying the issues you had after an update was the poor software design to begin with (poor phone design in general) that was the issue rather than Verizon putting an update out to it. That phone could barely handle the software it had never mind changes.

Instead of making specific statements, re: when Verizon is rolling out the update, from ambigious sources that one "read on the interent" please post a link of said source to substantiate your claim. I understand that false rumors exist, or that people like to post photo-shopped images to have a go at people, but I come to Androidcentral forums and newsfeeds thinking this is a more educated group of users that are above the frey. Not the TMZ of tech news.

I understand where you are coming from, but this is the internet, these are forums where people can hide behind a screen. You will never be free from false claims and Internet trolls no matter how well policed a site is.

Has anyone seen the update for other carriers etc. The mobile update has destroyed sd card functions made wifi even more unstable and the problems go on and on there is a lot at stake here..For instance T mobile rush the update push without an soak test like Verizon. If you were to go to read how the other side is having serious issues with kit kat. Those of us who have root will lose a lot of features we have gotten used too and we rely on..The point of it all is that if your so eager for update that is not stable then when it comes there are going to be so many threads about oh oh I shouldn't of took that update it took all of my features...(lol). I'm not sticking up for the big V I'm jumping ship next week to T mobile note 3 not because of there kit kat update but because Verizon is control freaks who lock bootloaders $160 single line bills and so on and so on..There going to release it on there terms not yours. .sorry to be such a jerk. But that's facts with the big red machine. I'm on X DA we have signed letters after letter s to Un lock bootloaders better csv and nothing. So keep ur heads up and maybe just maybe it will come..

P's be careful of what you wish for you just might get it...

If the Note 3 is not updated by end of April we lose tap to pay with Google Wallet (not that Verizon will support it anyways) but they are cutting support if you don't have Kit Kat.

Not a jerk, just tellin it like it is.
I came over to the Note 3 from a HTC One with Kit Kat (I also run Kit Kat on my Nexus7). Most of you will be let down, there is no second coming with Kit Kat.
This "update obsession" that some seem to have is more interesting to follow than the updates themselves.
My HTC One was the perfect phone until the update. Screwed up my blue tooth call quality to the point that I could not use any of my hands free kits (2 Jawbones, Plantronics visor kit, Jabra Freeway). I actually had the phone replaced...worked great until I updated to Kit Kat then the same problems. I live in a state where you must use hands free while driving....I drive a lot.
The call quality on the other end was so bad I was asked many times to call back after I reach my destination.
I will repeat blackwe387's comment, Be Careful What You Wish For....You May Get It.

Or you can just find it yourself. I'm not obligated to post anything, and I specifically asked for confirmation.

And you clearly miscalculated in your assumptions about some things. Speculation is part for the course on all these tech forums.

This is a thread about a specific issue (timeline related to Kit Kat rollout) and so yes if you're coming with nebulous speculation, its not welcome unless you have some source to back it up. While you say you have no obligation to post such a link, to not do so makes your post a meaningless bump with utterances best left unsaid. I'm sure the verge or gotta be mobile pages wouldn't mind having another bristled post of fluff around.

Around here, however, I would encourage users to click and report the rude, meaningless, and troll posts (this post included) to keep the thread clean for the rest of the discussion.

please back away from the screen

If you feel that you're not obligated to substantiate what you say you read online by providing the source of reference, so others can discern the validity of your claim, then there's no point in engaging in a dialouge with you about this. Clearly I miscalculated in my assumptions regarding your comprehension. I apologize.

Sometimes I feel we may be better off being happy with the OS the phone came with than the updates. It seems they just don't put the effort into really making sure the updates work as they did originally and (in the US at least) the carriers muck things up big time. Even if I choose the Note 3 today I won't be in as big of a hurry for Kit Kat 4.4.2 since I will get it on the Note 4 in the fall anyways. So no biggie.

I am not obligated to do anything for anyone here. I'm sorry you think I am. But I am not.

That's why the link is still not here (thanks to you, but really Google is not rocket svience), but I do have it bookmarked to check for updates. Ciao.

The reason I wasn't active in the thread is cause I removed the forum from my tapatalk app. There were some very active threads bombarding me with push notifications and I rather remove it than fiddle with settings.

I am purchase Galay Note 3 in Amazon.com , The Galaxy Note 3 is perfect for someone who wants a smartphone and a tablet, but doesn't want to splurge on both, let me start by saying the design of the Note 3 is highly improved over the Note 2, the screen is now .2 inches bigger and full 1080 p, also the display is much brighter, the new faux leather back is awesome, I see some reviews knocking it but I'm not sure why, it's gives it a grippy yet premium feel while still giving you access to the battery and sd card, while I love all aluminum smartphones, I don't like that you can't open them up to change out the battery, this phone is jam packed with many features, some of which don't work well and feel gimmicky such as smart stay, and smart scroll, it takes a while to go through the settings to configure it to your liking, this phone is certainly not for everyone, it's large size makes pocketability tough. The stylus feature is cool, for me it comes in handy when I'm out and about and suddenly need to jot something down. This phone is seriously fast for web browsing, and the multi window feature definitely comes in handy, for instance when comparing prices on products from different websites side by side. The camera is just ok, with the right lighting pictures look great, I'm disappointed in the lack of optical image stabilization, overall there is no better phablet on the market.

Pros- 1080p, stylus, great battery life, fast processor, screen size.

Cons- Camera needs some improving, size not for everyone. i am now upgrade android kitkat. I love u Galaxy Note 3.

SPEEDY DELIVERY IN 2 DAYS AS PROMISED! PHONE DELIVERED IN PERFECT CONDITION w/ALL PARTS! NO SCRATCHES! Thanks Amazon.com
