Really? Doht! Unless the detector is now suspect? That's a possibility. It's also possible that these fixes go out to alleviate our fears and are placebos, but I doubt that. Time and money spent on a fake fix doesn't make sense.

Since I've been conditioning the battery, I've been getting a solid range of 18-22 hrs. Yesterday I was able to get almost 2 days out of it. (1d, 21h, 45sec) So the battery life is really dependable for me. Much more so than my old Galaxy S III.

How did you condition it? Let it drain itself to shutoff a couple times first?

Yes. Charge your phone as usual. Let it drop to about 5% or lower, then charge it to 100%. Do that for the first 5 or so charges. You should see the battery life improve. Then after you get that battery improvement, you can then charge your phone from 15% capacity as normal and be happy. I do that with every new phone or any brand new battery I buy.

I am experiencing major battery drain. Not sure what's causing it. I have turned off any app that's using push except for the stock email app and yahoo mail.

Is it the android email app that is burning up my battery?

Anyone else?

I swapped the battery and so far it's holding steady. before it was draining 10% every 30min.

The majority of the time it's one of 2 things;
1) A rogue app is draining your battery in the background
Or
2) Your battery isn't holding a charge, maybe from overcharging or just overuse.
As you just mentioned, you popped in a new battery. How long have you had your Note Edge?

Hi, i picked up my Edge on the first day of release, 10 months ago and i was using the same battery. The battery obviously had failed. The new one is holding steady.

I can't believe the trend is to go with sealed phones, if my phone was sealed it had to be sent back. Whereas a simple battery replacement at home resolved the issue.

Also 10 months is too short a lifespan for a major brand battery.

I agree with you 1000%! We have had so many advances in technology inside the phone, chipsets are better, screens are almost 4K, and yet battery tech is still lacking.

Hi Guys, Although the phone is running great, a weird thing has started happening. I do not get the notification numbers next to App icons on the Edge Panel.

For example, I get a VM.
I have the drop down notification of course, no problem.
But I do not get the No 1 showing next to the VM App on the Edge Panel?

In fact I don't get the numbered notification, such as missed calls, new emails or Text messages by their App icons on the Edge panel.

What's this about?

Tnx, S

That's odd. Did you get the Security Update yet? Maybe that's the culprit. I know that after I got the most recent security update, the number next to the message icon in the Edge Screen stays on for awhile after you clear it.

Yes. It started after the last update.
Good observation.
Maybe next one will coorect it.
I'll try to contact vzw tech, others should do the same.
Tnx.

VZW says they are aware of this issue:
VZW Agenct: Hi there! I can definitely understand where you're coming from, as my phone doesn't show those at this time either. It is an issue we're working with Samsung and Google to correct.

well, I got really tempted with the Note 8 and placed a pre-order and then cancelled the order the next day. Frankly am not too excited about Samsung's new 18.5:9 long and narrow phones and the S8 is just too damn narrow.

Also although VZW offers 25% for Note 4 swaps they ignored Note Edge completely. So didn't feel like paying out 1100 for a phone that I am not even crazy about.

Interested to see what LG V30 might look like or the S9. My Note Edge is running like new. :)

I can understand that. My mom just recently got the Galaxy S8 a couple of months ago and she loves it. But in helping her use that phone, it's made me appreciate the Note Edge that I have. Sure it's slowing down just a tad, but I still love this phone. And after paying full price on the Note Edge when I got it, I can't see paying another $900 for the Note 8. Although that Note 8 looks really sexy.

well, after I wrote that, I went back to the VZW store and checked out the Note 8 again and I am getting one. haha. I'll pick one up on the day or release, I don't like this pre-order stuff since I have a VZW store nearby. :)
