Verizon Note Edge Thread

Here's something interesting.

The Visual Voice Mail has been a $2.99 a month since its inception.
Now the Premium Visual Voice Mail is 2.99 and normal VVM is free.

Anyone else is aware of this?

Ever since February VVM has been free... Premium was $2.99 but for me the normal stuff and the app were all working for free. I wasn't aware of the price change before then tho haha

not to be a party pooper, but accessories are the last thing on my mind. what about the unlocked edition of this phone verizon is releasing soon. these retail editions are great but the bootloader is locked. i dont like paying $800 for a device i cant do what i wish with especially when a week later they are going to release a unlocked version.

Are you saying VVM has been free since Feb of 2014?

I returned the Incipio case (hated it) got the Shell/Holster from VZW. This is by far my most favorite of all cases. This is the 3rd time I am using it on a phone. I don't care for the holster part, it's just the back that I want. It's the most sleek and discreet of all the cases and it has a two way kick stand.

By the way, my VZW screen protector is holding on, after the second and very vigilant attempt.

Yes, it's been free but only on select phones I believe. I had it on my Droid Maxx and Z3V but it might no be available for older phones. When you set it up it asks you to sign up for the premium service but when you decline it sets up the basic.

How is it different from Google Voice? I can read them on Google Voice too. To be honest, it's been so long since I used Verizon's voice mail system, I did not know about VVM.

Free on G2 as well

It's similar concept. It allows checking VM on multiple devices same as Google voice.

I guess what I'm getting at, is trying to determine if there's a benefit for me to pay for premium VVM (IE, does it offer something more than Google Voice offers).

Nova didn't do well on my phone at all, I just want an app that I can toggle to hide the notification icon bar the junk up top is killing me.

I use the app Tasker. That has the ability to do a lot of different things including hiding the notification bar and toggling it when needed.

Just had my first experience with VVM, always used Google Voice, but VVM is WAY more accurate in the transcribing. Google voice was sometimes quite hilarious what it thought people said and required a lot of interpretation, and about 50% of them I needed to listen to fully understand. VVM actually read like an email. Haven't decided if I want to pay for it though.

Thanks for sharing your comparison. I'm keeping Google Voice, as I don't want to add more expenses to my bill at the moment.

Could you use tasker to keep the edge screen active? I want it always active on my home screen on nova :/

Hmmm...That is a good question. Most of the Tasker apps, I have poached from other users. I do not think that they would have a script for that yet. There are a lot of Tasker apps that are out there. I think that there is a Tasker Reddit. I know there is a tasker wiki. It is a very popular program.
