Verizon offer FREE INC2 or X2

funny, i was having data/text issues constantly these past two weeks, and had a call go straight to voicemail. thought it was launcherpro and handcent issues, and it never crossed my mind to come check here, but if i'd known it was a software problem, i would've called in to get myself a new charge too. looks like a damn sweet phone

Is verizon sitll doing the replacement or not anymore cuz the update

Here's what they offered me:

DX2, Dinc2 or Charge (certified of course), or a choice of early upgrade.

Each offer has its pluses. The replacement gives me a 4G phone, now, with my unlimited plan. The upgrade allows me a nearly free phone when a better 4g comes out. If I have the whowithhow to wait until around Thanksgiving, like I did for my Fascinate, it'll cost me 96 cents to upgrade.

My account was flagged to get these options a couple of weeks ago.

First phone issues within a month, replaced
Second phone lasted 6 months before it started overheating (they replaced phone, battery and microsd)(replaced)
Third phone wouldn't let me hear anyone on the phone call (replaced)
Fourth phone shot my sd card across the room every time I tried to insert it into the slot (replaced)
Fifth phone seems okay, except that it has already shut itself off with a full battery, and has an odd fade effect when transitioning that it's never done.

Phones 3 thorugh 5 are replacements within 3 weeks from phone 3 to 5. Their "rule" is that they want you to go through at least 3 phones. At first they didn't want me to have a Charge because it was 4G, and then subsequent calls said that they would give it to me. And the Early upgrade is whenever I want to use it, which means I also get to keep the phone I have as long as I have some level of satisfaction with it... which ends up getting given to my wife.

I'm holding out in case the SGSII has 4G when its released. If not, then I'll choose the best phone possible from what Sam's Club offers for Black Friday like I did with this one in the first place. $0.96 was an awesome deal last November for the Fascinate. Too bad about the run of luck I had on it.

Soooo....I just received my "certified" fascinate. I did a search on the forums about unrooting the phone and returning to stock but there were a lot of results and I have no idea which is accurate. Can someone show me where to look to download the files so I can send my phone back without voiding the warranty? OR you can send me to a post that already explains this. I Googled this too and even more results returned. The problem is I know that not every source have the correct files or they may be outdated. I just need to know what to do to send my phone back.

Thanks in advance for all help!

Ack! I can't find the rom. I used Odin to flash the DL09 rom. When I booted up & set up my Google account, I ran the OTA updates until it was current.

Found It.

yes... you are absolutely correct. I only mentioned post count because there appears to be a lot of new members jumping on board trying to get a free phone.

Let me emphasize the fact that if you do happen to have a defective phone and verizon is willing to upgrade you for free... by all means, I would hope you take advantage of thier offer (as I most certainly did)

However, my original post was more geared towards those who are obviously just taking advantage of a system and now complaining that they aren't getting offered the free upgrade replacement. To be specific, it is posts like this that that caused me to vent a bit:

That, my friends, is called stealing. And for those of you too ignorant to understand that, I could really care less what you think of my opinion on the matter.

Some perspective may be in order for those of you that want to argue with JOrtenzi;

First take a moment to read his rant & understand if you come on & openly tell us how you 'Gamed' the system to get something free, you aren't gonna get a bunch of like & good jobs here. In fact it is probably more than likely you will get caught by the mega billion dollar carrier & they are going to want one of 2 things at that point; their phone back &/or $500+ for the one you gamed out of them.

Second we All understand the continued issues with the Fascinate. Some of us more than others as we were on board from the launch back in September. That doesn't mean we are going to condone taking advantage of a companies generosity & willingness to keep their customers happy. Don't expect the 'Entitlement' mentality to fly here. You are not entitled to a cell phone. It's not a civil right.

As to the issue of not getting calls and/or messages yes you pay for a service & you should get what you pay for. But don't think that includes a free phone for not getting a call or 2. There is a long process to get to that point. The 'Gaming' of the system that a number of you are confessing to is not a quality that will get you very far. You will eventually get caught. Maybe not by Verizon but somewhere, somehow you will be paying the price.

And finally... Before you go ripping me for stating a few simple facts. You are THIEVES! My bill is over $230 per month for all 5 lines, and others that pay their bills & follow the procedures from the contract we signed get screwed with higher prices for phones & increased rates because of this crap. So here's my personal hope that you do get caught in this activity & get the shaft from Verizon & their legal dept. Hint: You won't win so if you do get caught fess up & pay for the phone!

I'm NOW starting to have problems with missed calls (on ED05), which I've never had before. The GPS has been wonky, and I'm getting a lot of freezes/force closes.

Although I'd prefer a new 4G phone over a refurb --- been down that road before, and I don't want some else's failed, used phone -- I'm not crazy about any of the present models. If they sent me a brand new Fascinate that works, I'd be happy.

Oh, well. I think I'm going to let it ride for a while to see what happens.

Again...this isn't the topic...go rant on verizon's site then. If it wasn't the missed calls, it was something else with this phone. I'll bet less than 5% of the folks who bought this phone had a satisfactory experience. Verizon didn't have to replace any of those phones if they didn't want to, but they knew there was a problem! These forums have been a godsend for me and my fassy. I thank the community for posting this thread and helping people with their replacements.

Damn...are you the moderator? It looks like you took advantage of the situation, you received your charge. So why are you still lurking around this thread? You obviously aren't helping anyone here. If you are so pro verizon, go post on their forums.

Im still on the Fascinate forum because I have recreceived lots of advice and help learning here... so I am doing what I can to repay the favor anyway I can. I have been able to help a lot of members and give good advice.

As I stated before, if you are too ignorant to understand the point of my post, then your opinion really doesn't matter to me.

I'm not ignorant, and I understand your post. Maybe you don't understand...your post was off topic and did not assist anyone. The post is named Verizon offer Free INC2 or X2, not...Verizon offer Free INC2 or X2, is it right or wrong. And I'm sorry, if my opinion doesn't matter to you...why did you reply?

Everyone here needs to settle down immediately and start showing each other some respect. If you can't do this, leave the thread now.

My apologies, however.... I do not feel I was disrespectful to anyone. I voiced my opinion about this topic, and that is all

I wouldn't normally add fuel to the fire but I feel I need to say something. After having 4 fascinates in 6 months because of charging/battery issues (first 2), reboots, sod, GPS not working the phone just plain being slow and the fact that both mine and my wife's just plain didn't ring almost half the time I agree that those that are using this to simply get an early upgrade and aren't really having problems are manipulating the system. However I'm now on my 2nd Droid X2 as well due to the phone getting extremely hot and shutting down.

Here's my take, Verizon had an issue, they are standing behind it. I applaud them for that. However here I sit already with another phone being replaced. I appreciate them sending them next day air but how about instead of releasing new phones every 2 months you slow down and just get the ones you have right. Release 2 new phones every 6 months once the bugs are worked out. If your just going to throw out crappy half assed unfinished products yet your soaking me and millions of others for $200a month or more by god you better be willing to replace them them until you get it right. If not then you can bet I'll be leaving early and taking my business elsewhere.

Rant off

I agree with your statement 100%. Slooooooow down Verizon. The Fascinate "could" have been the go to Android device. Screen, features and size were the major things this device had going for it. To me dual-core, 4G, blah, blah, blah really is not that important. I opted to not replace the Fascinate with the Droid Incredible 2, Droid X2 or the Charge, because I really like the Fascinate.

This is one area where the Apple/iPhone is getting it right. Stop rushing to market "to out do the Joneses" and offer solid devices. The Fascinate didn't even make it 1 year before it was dropped from the Verizon lineup.
