Verizon offer FREE INC2 or X2

Well I'm receiving Droid Incredible 2 in 2 days anyways. I'll still miss things about my fascinate that I've gotten used to but that happens with every device..

Let me preface by saying I was a long time fascinate owner and absolutely loved this forum. If it wasnt for the faulty software update (ED04 & ED05) which only affected 7% of the facinates in use... I would still have it.

Now... yes, because of the missed calls and absolutely awful 3g reception, I was more than happy to accept the upgrade to the charge.

What bothers me is not the long time members of this forum accepting the same upgrade I did, but instead it is the "members" who have a post count of 5 that are complaining that they are not being offered the same exchange when it is obvious that your phone is working fine and you are just taking advantage of the system and just googled "free replacement " or heard from a friend about this option.

Word of advice... accept the fact that you are just trying to get a new phone... and that verizon is now one step ahead of you and not allowing people to take advantage of a new phone just because you want one...and that you still have an awesome phone that has plenty of upside and many of awesome developers around to make it worth your while. Don't be part of the the problem... enjoy what you have and be grateful for that.

Rant over.

I agree 100%...well, maybe 90%. Post count on this forum really has nothing to do with someone's phone not working as it should. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have had their Fascinate for a long time and it is now not working and have not been on this forum. Having said that, I do think there are plenty of folks who were trying to jump on the gravy train and just get a new device because VZW was handing them out like candy for awhile there. My fascinate was crapping out on me, I was going to get a replacement (Droid Charge was ok'd by tech support), but they decided I would get a refurb fascinate instead. I didn't argue, one, because I already upgraded from the Continuum back in March, and two, because I really like the fascinate and was not simply trying to get a new phone. I could have easily forced the issue and maybe even fabricated some issues to push them into getting a DINC2 or Charge, but that was not my intent at all. My replacement fascinate is humming along just fine so far, but I have not had many calls to say one way or another if the missed calls issue still exists. I set up my new phone completely different from my previous one, use a different launcher than before with different widgets, different wallpaper, etc. It's already like having a new device. Now I look forward to rooting some day. Just my two cents. :)

anyone know where I can bring my fascinate back to stock? I am wanting to turn my fascinate in for a droid charge

I'm amazed at how many people are swapping out there phone knowing they aren't having problems. I actually had tons of missed calls and swapped out for the Inc2 but two of my friends who have fascinates have never had a problem. I read tons of posts about people who think its a slow phone, they don't like the OS, they just want a new phone or the best one 5 phones having the missed call issue "Seriously?". Its like stealing. I'm thinking there gonna narrow down the problem to a bad component in certain phones. So in a month or so were gonna start seeing alot of people complaining about a $500 charge on there bill.
Its great there actually swapping out the phones but some people are taking advantage of the system. If a problem is found they will be paying for there new phone...

Yeah, I don't think you're going to see that happen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it start because of an update? It's probably not hardware. I also don't see why you're surprised. People always take advantage when they can. It's just human nature. Doesn't make it right, but makes it non surprising.

negative on the replacements if your still having issues after the ED05 update all they will do is send you a refurbished fascinate

thats effective as of the 28th unless you get a call center where the reps havent been updated on that yet

It goes both ways. Paying good money for an expensive phone and service on supposedly a superior network only to be forced to deal with endless software issues and missed calls isn't fair either. If some people took advantage of Verizon's exchange offer, 1- I couldn't really blame them and 2- its far fewer than were inconvenienced by Verizon and Samsung's handling of the many issues that plagued the phone right from the start.

what does the number of posts have to do with anything? i just want a working phone. i even waited after the update, but it's still giving me problems. i don't think it was too unreasonable to request a brand new fascinate, not a refurb model.

I agree, what does post count have to do with deserving a working phone? Some of us read more than we write. Some don't even read... (I read, I passed info to my coworker who had the same problem who doesn't read forums). Isn't that what community is about?

........ If it wasnt for the faulty software update (ED04 & ED05) which only affected 7% of the facinates in use...
7% seems like an accurate number, however missed calls affected my household 100% (still going to marriage counseling), but we both now have a Charge.

What bothers me is not the long time members of this forum accepting the same upgrade I did, but instead it is the "members" who have a post count of 5.....
I have found that rising gas prices, and how our government is handling the debt more bothersome.
Seriously who gives a rats what other people do.

Just got my Inc2! Kind of sad to he ditching my Fascinate though burning need to be able to receive my phone calls rooted or unrooted

yes... you are absolutely correct. I only mentioned post count because there appears to be a lot of new members jumping on board trying to get a free phone.

Let me emphasize the fact that if you do happen to have a defective phone and verizon is willing to upgrade you for free... by all means, I would hope you take advantage of thier offer (as I most certainly did)

However, my original post was more geared towards those who are obviously just taking advantage of a system and now complaining that they aren't getting offered the free upgrade replacement. To be specific, it is posts like this that that caused me to vent a bit:

basically I said that after the update my phone was still missing calls. They tried to call my phone, I had it on silent and said that I didnt receive their call. They tried this twice and i said I did not get their call either time. They transferred me to level 2 support and the first words out of her mouth was that I could get a new phone. the dinc2, x2, or charge. Couldn't get the charge though.

The tech said the ed05 update would fix it. I told him that I have the update already but still same issue. Tech actually called my phone and it did ring but I acted as of nothing was happening hehe. After he called three times I then acted like it was the first call. Tech offered me the x2 and dinc2. I told him a worker at the Verizon store said I could get the charge. Tech person said no way because its a 4g. I said ohh well I'm not familiar with those phones so I would have to go look at them and make a decision. I told him to make note that I can switch.

That, my friends, is called stealing. And for those of you too ignorant to understand that, I could really care less what you think of my opinion on the matter.

But stealing is frowned upon..
& if your fascinate is working fine you should accept vzws policy & love your device!

Well, there's that... My thought was maybe "new" people found us here by googling about the blasted phone issues and cmae to find out what to do... Those low post counts, umm yeah, legit. Thanks for re-explaining yourself to emphasize the "no missed calls".

Well before you go on blasting maybe you should know the full story. My phone DID have issues. I had MANY missed calls. Yeah that time the calls went through but at that time and moment i was tired of the phone and the "possibility" of it being fixed.

So maybe before you go on calling people a thief you should just chill and enjoy your new charge which by your other post you have received a charge and are enjoying it. Whether your fascinate was not working or working, well i dont care cause thats your business. So enjoy your charge and i will enjoy mine.

Damn...are you the moderator? It looks like you took advantage of the situation, you received your charge. So why are you still lurking around this thread? You obviously aren't helping anyone here. If you are so pro verizon, go post on their forums.
