Verizon phone deals thread

The activation they are referring to is the activation of the new GNote3 you just bought.

Right but I would not be adding another smartphone as a trade up so the $100 doesn't apply because I would have to add another phone to get that $100.

611 can do it. Just call and say how you just purchased and how mad the upgrade fee makes you and you might return the phone and switch to ATT since they have new plans that are so much cheaper than Verizon.

Just be nice.

I doubt I would threaten them with leaving. But I do want to know just exactly what is that $30 for because they don't have to do anything at all to upgrade my phone. I'm not asking you to answer that question I know all the carriers are doing it. That doesn't make it right. If they had to switch something over at their main office I could see the fee. But they don't have to do anything we take care of these things online now so they're getting 30 bucks for doing absolutely nothing.

I don't understand what you are saying. You trade in any smartphone to get the $100 gc when you activate your GNote3. If you already have a smartphone to trade in, then you don't need to buy another one.

I don't think they're going to allow me to use two $100 gift cards on one activation that's what I'm saying. You get the $100 gift card after you activate your new phone. I'm only buying one phone. Make sense now?

I don't plan on buying another phone for a couple of years. The GN 2 is going to have to do me. I wasn't even going to go to the GN 3 I was going to keep my GN 2. If I could use the activation on a dumb phone for my hubby then I could do it but this is only for smartphones as I understand it and he doesn't want a smartphone. I thought about buying the l. G. G two but I would have to activate that as well in order to get the $100 gift card. We have no need for 3 phones on our account.

Correction the GN 3 is going to have to hold me for a couple years.

Yes, but I wasn't telling you that. I was saying this:

$180 + tax for GNote3
-$30 courtesy credit
-$100 trade-in gift card
Net cost for GNote3 = $50 + tax

From your signature, I am assuming you have a GNote2 currently. So you sell your GNote2 for at least $250 on swappa:

$250 sale price
-$10 swappa fee
- $7 paypal fees
- $23 shipping with signature required and insurance
Net for GNote 2 = $210

So you end up making a profit on the deal of $160 minus the sales tax you paid on the GNote3.

Right, I agree it's a good deal. My point is they would not give me a second $100 gift card if I traded in the Palm Centro because I would not be activating another phone in order to get that second $100 gift card.

Correct, I didn't realize you had another phone to trade in and all I was saying was don't trade in the GNote2, sell it on swappa.

Oh definitely! I did just call 611 about the $30 fee they did not credit it but they did give me an extra gig of data for a year so I will take that and that does make me happier.

Wow, that is better than the $30 courtesy credit! Isn't that worth about $10 a month or $120 for a year's worth?

Yeah I think so. I just recently dropped from 4G to 2g of data to save some money. I'm not a huge data hog but I'll do my best to take advantage of this while I can.

Apparently the "VERIZON30" works now. Brings it to $140 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

That figures. My new one isn't even here yet and now I could have saved another $10 by waiting 1 day to order. Ugh.

In light of the new data buckets, you really didn't get anything since they are making this change for all of the plans now anyhow.

I would call back and get the $30 courtesy credit.
