Verizon- pie update?

So I took the plunge just now, and I updated to Android pie. At first I didn't want Pie because I love Good Lock 2018. However, I was having issues with my Android Auto and Ford Sync 3, and was told Pie fixes it. We shall see in the morning. Update went smooth and quick, no issues. I am really liking Pie. Only thing I don't like is how high the stock keyboard sits, too much space at the bottom. Gboard sits lower so I am using that. Thanks to all, the post that persuaded me to upgrade, you guys are Awesome!

Which way worked for you , rename zip or just the way it was ?

When I did it, I renamed it, but I doubt it was necessary because I had to select the file during the process anyway. I don't think it mattered what it was named.

I think the person who is having trouble may have had a corrupted download. Isn't the update 1.8gb? They stated their download was 1.71gb.

When I did this, the renamed file didn't work, I had to select the actual download title.

I'm glad I did this, absolutely no reason to wait on Verizon's slow a$$. I've been enjoying the hidden gesture navigation buttons for over 2 weeks already.

Why did this chat become a self install pie update help/tutorial?? This needs to be renamed to that. Everytime I come in thinking there is news about the update release, I get someone asking/giving help.

yeah it shouldn't matter if you re name or left it the same , he probably needs to download it again. me personally didn't rename it .

This forum/topic helping Verizon owners that don't want to wait for pie update and when the update is coming.

As Verizon has left their customers in the dark , and its taking more the usual time to be released.

Rumors have it Verizon to release official pie update March 1 so you can check your device at that time.

Update! I re-downloaded the Pie file did not, rename and formatted my SD card before installing again and this time it worked! I sure appreciate all the help I received from Mustang! :)

Glad it worked
Enjoy your new Pie update

Have you disabled any of the Verizon/VZW bloat? If so it will not let you set up Wi-Fi calling. Enable the bloat, set up Wi-Fi calling then disable the bloat.

So I have in and did the SD card method, just one question... Where is WiFi calling? (Verizon Note 9)

So, my coworker got the Pie update from Verizon the same day I side loaded it. Some say the images of Pie are the same but they're not. His has a scrolling "Verizon Wireless" in the the notification bar periodically when I don't. So the official Verizon does differ than the generic one. Wonder what other differences there are.

Need to look at the build numbers they are same , could be a function that person enabled and you didn't.

Amazing that your coworker is the only one in the world to receive the OTA update from Verizon.

What you guys been smoking over there?

No need to check this thread for "news".
When Verizon does drop the actual pie update for the Note 9, there will be three new threads about it, in this forum.

I took the leap and applied the official update to my phone via sideload. Love the update, but soon realized a flaw that is apparently on Samsung and not the carriers. It seems that the CSAA version for the US variant causes the compass to be off by 90 degrees. Does not seem to affect navigation, but doe cause wonky positioning on maps. Have also seen that it does not play well with those who use for drone operation. Samsung acknowledges this across their community, and it seems there will be a service patch with no official ETA.

Next update should be included with the security patch for march
