Verizon Pixel 2 XL and Project Fi

Has anyone been able to get Fi to work on their Pixel 2 from Verizon? I cannot get it activated on my phone.

I'm no expert but I don't think Project Fi works on carrier phones. They need to be the unlocked versions from Google.

I thought the Verizon ones were already unlocked.

Found this in an article about Google's eSIM manager app:

"Unfortunately for those at Verizon, though, it appears they will be stuck with the traditional nano-SIM for now."

Oh well.
