Verizon: Recall the thunderbolt!!!!!!!!!!!!

Running fully stock TB here with no reboots or other issues, nor have I ever had any problems. First upgate to GB had the known bugs but the second update fixed those. I keep LTE (good signal in my area) and GPS turned on, WiFi and bluetooth off except as needed and have around 40-50% life on stock battery after 15 hours of moderate use (phone, email, texts, browsing, news). I have a freind who has had the same results and ended up buying one for his wife. She is quite happy with hers as well.

Absolutely no complaints and I would not hesitate to recommend the phone.

I dont have a problem with this phone but I do think HTC and Verizon should offer upgrades to users who have been experiencing these issues. When the CLN phones are faulty, you know there is a bigger issue at hand.

Last night, every time I opened the Internet on my Thunderbolt, it would go to the last page that I had open. It didn't go to the home page like it normally does. So I rebooted the phone. I can't recall how long ago I had rebooted the phone, but it was easily over a week ago, and then, I did it to do a battery swap.
The reboot made the internet open to my normal home page as it should.
[sarcasm]
This is obviously a serious flaw and the phone should be recalled. Verizon and HTC should be sued for millions of dollars. The need to reset this phone every couple of weeks has ruined my life. I can no longer go through life like this. It is horrible.
[/sarcasm]

Seriously, I think this is a troll by an iPhone fanboy and I (we) have taken the bait. I mean, to have a device that has these abilities, and not return it under warranty if it is defective, well, there is a problem, and it isn't the smartphone.

I bought this in late July, never rooted. Never had a single problem other than one time a week ago my dialer wouldn't work for like an hour. Web would but no dialer... This really pissed me off. But other than that flawless.

I suggest you bring it into vzw and have them replace it. Sometimes you can just get a lemon. Or QQ and root it?

I had a few quirks but not your issues and mine is perfect now. I did have to do a factory reset but it resolved it. Love this phone

My first Thunderbolt was the biggest piece of junk ever! I returned it under a warranty replacement (no one could hear me when I called them among other issues) and received a refurbished one two months ago. Not a single problem since! I love my phone. Finally decided to root it and flash BAMF last week and it runs even better. Am I lucky? Perhaps. But I'm incredibly pleased with it.

Well, this is a fine how-do-you-do. I'm exactly 15 days from purchasing not one, but TWO Tbolts from Best Buy (can't beat the $99.00 price tag), and now I hear this. My upgrade starts then, I'm grandfathering over my data plan, and I'm hoping and praying that neither of my phones will be plagued by issues such as yours. Also, in most cases, Verizon has been willing to make things right, and you don't mention if you've tried to talk to them. I've had four things go wrong with my Eris, and every time, they have taken care of it right away. I hope you can get your issues resolved, and hopefully I don't have any of them. Good luck to you.

I think alot of issues with the TBolts where with the EARLIER phones. I got my first one a month after they came out and have the couple of reboots a day....nothing to cry about, but annoying just the same. I then dropped my phone and cracked the screen big time bad.....but the phone still worked like a champ. I did take it into Verizon for an unrelated issue of not being able to download a patch....not the OTA...a patch. The rep at the store tried everything for over and hour and when he couldn't figure it out, then he ordered me a new REFURB phone for free and I have rooted it and flashed it to several different ROMS in 2 months, and I have had ZERO ZERO ZERO did I say ZERO issues?. Well, maybe the only teenie tiny issue is that my battery door/cover doesn't connect tight and when it does, my volumen up/down keys get stuck. This isn't a Version or HTC design, this is a "I did battery pulls a lot" issue. But, I ordered a extended battery today with a door/cover so that should be it.

The one thing that Verizon is good at is appeasing the customer....they know the competition is there and that there are 10 Kiosk's in the Mall and 20 cell dealers in the area (well, at least the Fremont, Ca. area).

Good luck!

I'm still using my original from release day way back in March, which is an eternity in Android time. Sure, I could nitpick a few small things, but overall this has been the best phone I've ever had. If you are really having that much trouble then your phone either needs to be wiped and have everything reloaded, you have bad apps causing problems, or your device is defective and should be replaced. Recalling ALL ThunderBolts just because a few were defective (which is normal for anything) is a little bit demanding, to say the least.

Get a replacement. Your issues are none I have ever experienced. I am sure you will be happy then. The phone is excellent

I just sold my TB to a coworker after purchasing it about a week after they came out. I loved that phone from the day I purchased it to the day I sold it. Verizon sold sooooo many TB's that there is bound to be a few bad ones. To the OP, just go get a replacement and the earth will again begin to rotate on its axis.

If your wondering why I sold mine it is because my employer changed which phones it will allow on the server. I can use BlackBerry or Apple and I am sure not going to use a BlackBerry.

I have had no problems, great since day one.

Everything works great for me except the battery life. HTC should be ashamed at how bad it is. I have an extended but my phone is now a brick.

I cannot speak for everyone, but three of us here at work have Thunderbolts and we are all thrilled with them. I have the extended battery and advise it as the very first thing to do to it.

Battery life is my only complaint, and it is so easy to fix. If you are in a position where you can charge your phone sometime during the day, it's not going to be a problem.

I'm SICK AND TIRED of this phone, or should I say the crappy software updates they keep dropping on it. EVERY update creates a NEW screw up. Gingerbread has brought back not only random reboots but also lock-ups during use, of EVERY function on it. I've had it lock up when I'm texting, emailing, surfing, gaming and talking. This is unacceptable for a $300 phone that you are locked in to for 2 years. The number one culprit that seems to lock it up is an app you can't get rid of, Sense UI. HTC/Verizon have really dropped the ball on this phone. The ONLY people I know that are having good results with this phone are those who have rooted it. Once they strip off the bloatware, they have a phone that is exceptionally powerful and works well. Anyone who leaves it stock and allows the OTA updates has had nothing but frustration. I've TRIED to give you guys every opportunity to fix it but with a phone that now reboots or locks up 20-25 times a day, I've had enough. I COULD root it but I should not have to root a phone that I paid this much for just to make if functional.

Just so you know, I got my Thunderbolt about a month at BB and they price matched WalMart and gave it to me for 69.99. Now that's a good deal. If you can wait until Black Friday, rumor is it will be FREE!!!

Sorry about your troubles. My TB has rocked since I got it. The only issues I had (reboots and VM notifications post gingerbread update) were resolved in a timely manner. I'm loving this phone.

I don't get reboots but I do get screen freeze in which screen becomes unresponsive to touch. Requires a forced reset or battery pull. On the bright side data drops are less frequent.

ROOT!

I'm rooted and still get screen freeze and data drops regardless of roms. It is a phone issue. I think dismissing folks who don't wish to sacrifice their warranties by rooting is unfair. Jmo.

Btw, I do like the tbolt. When I imagine how fantastic it would be if everything worked "right" all the time I do become angry.
