Verizon S5 Lollipop gmail not retrieving emails

Updated to Lollipop today on a verizon S5 but now gmail is not retrieving emails. If I open gmail and manually refresh they appear. Tried clearing cache and rebooted several times but still not working right.

What next?

This is obvious, but can't hurt to ask...

In the Gmail app have you gone to: Settings > Select account > Sync Gmail (should be checked)?

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

Yes, Sync Gmail is checked.

How often do you have it set to sync? If you set it to sync, say, every hour, and check it every 15 minutes, it'll sync when you open the app, so it'll look as if it's not syncing.

exact same thing is happening to me. Sorta glad im not the only one and Im not going crazy

Where do you check that? I've poked around but didn't see where that is set.
