I use Google Messenger. By far my favorite. Looks so clean and polished and the material design looks great. Simple and easy. Using the Google Keyboard with their material themes makes the whole experience great. I would definitely recommend Messenger...

+1 on this. I had used SMS Pro and textra in the past. The screen notification kept bugging me. I like the clean straight-forward UI. I also I like the ability to turn off screen notifications, so if a text comes in while it's in my pocket, I am no longer making random phone calls and taking a hundred pictures of the inside of my pocket.
