Thanks. I've tried all of that. Apple says my number is unregistered and only had one iPhone. Just one iPhone my bosses is the only one not playing well..

Once you have signed out of all five areas that require an Apple ID and password, clear the old login ID, re login with the new Apple ID that should do it. Are your kids devices registered either? There's no other reason why iMessage should continue to act that way towards your device

Mark50789 & JF7S, I just switched from iPhone to Note 3 weeks ago and having same issues. One item that wasn't mentioned on this discussion thread was that Apple has to unregister your phone number internally. It's not unregistered by just turning off iMessage. Apple has to do this themselves. That said, I have tried Handcent among others and currenly trying out Textra from all the raving reviews. I still don't get consistent group messages, MMS pics from people and some texts don't ever even come over. I just changed my Apple ID and will log out of iTunes when I get home. Such a pain in the ***...

Just an f.y.i, I was able to unregister (remove) my phone number through the Apple website.

The biggest problem for me was logging out of every single iDevice I had, and relogging in with a new Apple ID. It should work out in the end.
