Hi Everyone, I am new to the forums and I have a few questions if anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!

1- I currently have a Verizon Note 4, however I am being offered a Note 5 through the insurance, I have read and watched many reviews including the ones on Android Central, on the Note 5 and I am wondering if you all think it is worth it to take the Note 5 from Asurion. I know I can purchase a used note 4 on Swappa or CL.

I will say that I love my Note 4 for the removable battery and the SD card slot, however I know that there are items that I can purchase to use the SD Card and the ZeroLemon Battery Case. So do you think that the pros/cons of the Note 5 are worth the upgrade? Thank you for your opinions.

2- If I upgrade to the Note 5, I am very afraid that the glass will break easily. I always use a high impact case and a glass screen protector, however since the entire phone is made of glass, I am quite concerned that it will still break in the case. With that being said, I am considering purchasing a skin as well. I looked into D Brands, Skinomi and Slick Wraps.

My questions are, can I put a case (i.e. clear) over the skins and can I still use a Tempered Glass Screen Protector with any of the listed skins?

For anyone that has experience with using any of the skins above, do they peel over time and will the case make the peeling worse?

And which skins tend to come off the best (leaving no residue or damaging the phone) I have never used a skin before so any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much for your help!

Also, Sorry I forgot one additional question, I read that the Note 5 heats up after long term use such as watching movies, does anyone know if this will loosen the skins over time? Thank you again for your help.

I heard from slickwraps themselves that the Note 5 skins come with a front screen protector. I have a Black Carbon Fiber skin on my Pebble Time so I can't really speak on experience when it comes to the Note 5 skin as I been on the fence on buying one for my Note 5.

I have a clear skin wrapped note 5 with a very slim case. The skin I used was Skinomi and in my opinion it's great. The fit was perfect barely see that it's on. The note 5 shouldn't heat up watching movies but when it does get warm, it's nowhere near the temp you need to ruin the skin. I have removed the skin and there is no residue.

It really is a nice looking phone! Did you come from the note 4, and if so, do you miss the expandable memory and the battery?

thank you for the advice on the slick wraps!

Thanks, the pics look great for the Skinomi!

You're welcome. Here's the warranty information

Thanks I read that all of them are good, so I might try them all and see how it goes, I just want to get a feeling from here as to whether or not any of the skins leave a residue. And also I need to decide if I should upgrade to the note 5 entirely.

It's understandable, I just peeled the skin off off the buttons on my Pebble Time It does leave a residue on the surface. If you're used to a swappable battery and a Micro SD card then I would personally look elsewhere

Again, thank you, I have a few days to decide, so I am going to wait to see what others think as well but I for sure appreciate your opinion. Its hard to decline as they are doing the upgrade since they don't or didn't at the time of the claim have the note 4's in stock.

I jumped from a Note 4 to a Note 5 at launch. I have been extremely happy. My N5 is the 64G model. I also purchased a 64G SanDisk jump drive with the micro and normal USB ports, but I have not yet needed it.

I have the dbrand red carbon fiber skin on the back. Fits beautifully. Started with the white and changed to redo. Easy peel off and no residue. All my cases for fine with the skin and I have had no problem with using my wireless charger.

I liked my Note 4 just fine but I truly am attached to my Note 5. The build and feel on my hand is just very very cool to me.

PS I have noticed the back gets warm with long video playing but just lukewarm.

Awesome, that is all good news, and I thank you very much for your feedback!!! I agree, I LOVE the way the phone looks, and I think that with asurion upgrading it for me it sounds like a good investment. And my feeling based off of the feedback that I have been provided thus far is leaning towards the Note 5 and if I hate it, purchasing a second hand Note 4. I appreciate the feedback on the D brand skin, it seems to be my favorite thus far but hearing real world use is definitely helpful! I am leaning closer and closer to the Note 5 but since I have a few days to decide, I am going to wait till the last minute and hear some additional feedback on here.

One last question, if you or anyone can assist, I am looking for a case the note 5 that is clear, slim but maximum drop protection but has the cutout for the camera and the flash separated. I am not a big fan of the cases that I have seen on amazon that have one big hole for both the camera and the flash and even the Otterbox has one big cutout for both. So again, any advise would be appreciated.

And lastly, I have read over what feels like hundreds of posts on the tempered glass and it is all over the board, Amazon is difficult because many of the review are "received sample for honest review" and I don't think they are as honest as they could be. Again if you or anyone has any advice on a good Oleophobic, case friendly, and minimal halo or rainbow affect I would for sure appreciate the feedback! I used to purchase Zagg all the time, but now with so many new options with Lifetime Warranties I want to purchase a different brand.

I try very very hard to take care of my devices as best as possible so I don't have to claim the insurance, however in this case, I lost the phone so there is nothing I can do about that!

Thank you everyone, I truly appreciate any and all opinions/feedback!

I don't know what happened to my last post.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I am leaning toward D Brands as they seem to look the nicest however hard to tell on a computer monitor. Now that I know that they do not leave residue, that really pushes me towards them, but I also don't have an issue trying out a few different companies. I am for sure leaning more and more to the Note 5 because like you said, the build seems awesome! And I will also purchase a OTG micro SD card reader if I go that route.

May I also ask, with regards to cases and tempered glass, I have read so many reviews its hard to find what I am looking for, with the case, do you or anyone know if a good drop protection clear case that has a separate cutout for the camera and the flash rather than one large cutout? And also with regards to the tempered glass, does anyone know which glass may be the best case friendly and the show the least halo/rainbow effect? I just want one that will protect the phone and fits the screen correctly.

Thanks, I truly appreciate all of the feedback and opinions!

oh, and Oleophobic as well, I have used Zagg for the last 10 years and I have found that their quality has been going downhill and their prices are increasing. Now with increased competition from other companies that have Lifetime Warranties, I can purchase 3 of them for the price of on Zagg Glass. Thanks!

Re: Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Asurion Upgrade & Dbrand, Skinomi or Slick Wrap Skin Opinions

Number 1, yes, take the Note 5 for sure. If you don't like it, sell it for a lot and buy another Note 4 outright.

The other.. I have a thin TPU case on my Note 5. I've had it since release day and no issue with my glass. There are people that have dropped their phones in high impact cases and there hasn't been aby damage.

I also don't use a screen protector of any kind.

Thank you very much! I ordered it, black (very excited!) and I ordered the Skinomi listed above along with the 3 pack Dbrand skins for the back of the phone and the Caseology Vault Series until I can find another case for it.

If anyone is or has been successful in finding a case that has the cutout for the camera and the flash separated please let me know, I looked at Otterbox and it is one cutout. Thanks so much everyone! Of course, I welcome any additional opinions.

And if anyone has experience with the Ghostek Atomic 2.0 for the Note 5 (waterproof case) please let me know, I am leaning towards this one as Lifeproof does not make one for the Note 5.

Thank you !!!

i have this case, which has a separated cutout for the camera and flash, but I'm not sure if it's enough protection for what you're looking for. It's very minimal, which I prefer.
