All those freaking out, this is a common thing for shipping to hold the phones and ship just in time to get by promised release day. I just switched from apple and they do the same thing. The company like Apple or Samsung have an agreement with the carriers to secure and store them at the hub and to get them out by release date. For Apple there was never an early release.. for Samsung it seems like some may get it a day early... so no need to call fed ex, or ups.. etc the only ones who should prob worry is if your phone status hasn't shipped and is processing still... otherwise you'll get the phone on Thur or fri whatever option you prob paid for.. i.e. Next day by 1030 or cheaper delivery fees

But i have used a dozen or so Samsung chargers... None of them ever failed. And I have enough spares that if one were to fail, then I can wait for a warranty replacement.
If that's your primary concern then sure... Buy it from Verizon.

If you are clumsy, yes. It has a 80% survival rate at 1.6m. Also certain material like sand will most likely scratch the screen

I have one on order. Just don't like taking the chance. It may eventually come off though.
I've seen really great reviews on YouTube with the screen glass. There have been some mishaps with the back glass.
With that being said, I currently have an OtterBox on my Droid Turbo. Literally a day before I was going to upgrade to the S7 Edge, it face planted on concrete and shattered. A frustrating but fortunate mistake. The glass on this phone was supposed to be sooo durable that if something happened within 2 yrs of the purchase, Verizon or Motorola replaced the screen free of charge. (Really, they send you the same phone only refurbished). Needless to say I had to hold off on my upgrade to make the swap (can't upgrade a damaged phone) and I found out about the N7.
I wanna keep that baby pretty as long as possible, so I'm not taking any chances.

It looks to be a pretty old cable, but if it is less than a year then Verizon should replace it under warranty
