Verizon shipping Droid X Early?

There most definitely IS a promotion where anybody who's contract ends in 2010 can upgrade early for any new 3G smartphone, but as far as Verizon told me when I went to the store, it is NOT a phone-only promotion. Anybody can take part, in store or over the phone. Then again, they may have been trying to convince me not to go through Best Buy's pre-sale, but I did anyway.

I tried to go into best buy on the 5th to pre-order after they supposedly restarted pre-orders, but they told me they weren't doing them. Weird. The 15th's an action packed day for me, i really really hope i can squeeze the time in to make it to a Verizon store and pray they have some left.

Just tell them a friend of yours already got their Droid X. Ask to speak with a supervisor. Tell them you are not hanging up until you order one. Tell them you know a few people who already have theirs.

All I did was call up a few weeks ago to cancel my incr order. Since they weren't taking X preorders, CSR offered to call back on July 15th. This worked out well since I would be without internet access that week. They ended up calling back early this week.

As you can imagine, I was shocked when I saw the shipping email from verizon yesterday...

I was making plans on calling in sick on the 19th, now I have my entire vacation to play with it. I wonder if I'm the 'northern cardinal' #14 on the @droidlanding twitter....

From the articles I've read of people receiving the units early, the one thing they had in common is that they either preordered an Incredible or had recently returned one.

Yeah that's what it seems like to me too. Honestly those guys kind of deserved it for all the waiting they had to do.

Well I decided to go with the Moto X and cancel the Droid Inc. I spoke to a great CSR named Misty, she was very helpful and when I asked about preordering the Moto X she checked and said yes I could. She took my info and credit card and said it should ship on the 15th with and eta of the 19th.

Don't know if I just got lucky or if they are opening it up. Good luck if you try!

I doubt that. The CSR that i talked to said that they weren't taking pre-orders till the 24th, but we all know the phone goes on sell on the 15th. So i think if you get a CSR that doesn't know what they are talking about, you'll get weird info.

Wouldnt that just stuck? Nobody gets the X cause of backorders.... or the Incredible for that matter.... Were all waiting for the Droid 2 in the long run because too many back orders...

LOL Oh hell or high water i plan on walking out of the Verizon store with a Droid X on the morning of the 15th. Now that i finally picked a phone that i want, I'm anxious to get rid of this crappy phone I have. If i have to get to the store at 6 am to get it, i will. I doubt my town ( Springfield, MO ) will have huge lines waiting for the droid X though.

Thats the right attitude... I've been to springfield, hopefully theres alot of stores cause its big enough you might have to camp the night there
