Verizon 'significantly altering' unlimited data?

If true, I'm curious if it'll be for off-contract lines only.

I was going to post this article before, I have UDP and I am off contract. My 6 month average data use is 50 gigs. So I don't know if I fall into that "extraordinary" category.
Right now I have 4 lines on the old 700 min a month plan. The other 3 lines are fixed gig caps
We will wait and see
Chris

I saw this. It's the beginning of the end. I predict that the message will be very vague.
I need them to define their terminology

Sounds like people using a huge amount (My personal guess .. 500GB+ ?) may get a notice. The options are harsh .. Swap to tiered or we cut your line off. Dang.

I feel like it's going to be under 100gb.

They aren't even issuing a warning. That a what I don't get.

Yeah a bit surprised that they aren't warning people telling them to tone it down first.

Well if that's the case, I'm toast bc I'm always near 1 terabyte or over each month.....lol....I've tried to tame myself, but I still end up over 800 gigs a month lol...

Yeah they will most likely be contacting you with that usage lol. If you're in contract they won't touch you till you're out of it but once you are... I'd expect a message.

I got rid of my UDP that I've had for many years back on November. I sensed the writing on the wall that they wanted us gone. In return I got $500 credit From Verizon for transferring to one of their larger plans. Being that I improved my home office WiFi to four channels and high speeds, that was another decision that prompted my Verizon plan switch. Seems like every move Verizon makes... is NOT in the best interest of the customer. Good luck to folks who have UDP.

I use about 100gb a month using Netflix at home. I don't have dsl or internet options so I use my VZW. We shall see. Lets keep everyone informed please.

Is something like this even permissible under the terms of the 700 MHz spectrum they bought?

Are you on contract now?

Unless one is in a state where a change to the contract has to have both parties' consent or it stays as is for the duration, does it really matter? Couldn't Verizon just choose to "release" you in case you aren't OK with the changes?

Of course, the way cellular industry contracts are, there are generally no protections for customers...

If they change your plan without your permission (which they can do) they MUST allow you out of contract without any fees.

The rumor is that it doesn't affect those on contract
