Verizon -- System Update LG V10

Life is really sucking after this stupid update!!!!! Battery is being used at almost twice the rate before the update. At first I was happy because I saw no difference, but then I restarted my phone a day or so after and holy crap. Now I really am glad I got that second battery......

I feel your pain. I loved this phone until the update.... Now I wish I would have gotten a galaxy note......

no problem with battery life, once a week I do a soft reset .push powerand volume at same time untill screen goes off.phone will start back on its 0wn.after the phone is back on .I turn phone back off .then pull battery out for 5 min .done this on my last 5 smart phones .keeps it running smooth.I get a new phone every 2 years.I like this phone might keep it a little longer.

Sooo the saga continues. The friggin update has turned what used to be ok battery life into somewhat sh**y battery life. Still the same culprits(Kernel (Android OS, Android System, and two System folders (/system.bin/logb and /system/bin/mediaserver). On a 30 minute ride to work, my phone went from 100% to, now currently, 84%. This is with no use. No calls, no apps running, no streaming music, NOTHING!!!!!! My phone is exactly the same as it was before the update, no new apps installed, no setting changes made, NOTHING!!!!!! If I could find the person who thought this update was a good idea, I'd kick him straight in the giblets!!!!!!!

Sitting on my desk unused, now at 74%!!!! AARRGGHH!!!!!!! I hate this new update!!!!

Agreed! Battery is terrible plus other small problems.... Plus now my phone calls are messed up too. I am seriously thinking about calling Verizon and telling them I was a Galaxy Note.

Down to 64%. Yeah, I'm lovin me some Verizon.....NOT!!!!!!!!!

I'm not on Verizon so I can't feel your pain on this one, but the battery life has never been great on this phone though it has been acceptable to me. Do you happen to have an SD card in the phone. If so, you can run without it and see if the battery life gets better. I have heard of corrupted SD cards causing battery drain issues in other phones esp after updates for some reason.

Have you tried ANY of the following?
Smart Cleaning
Clear apps cache
Wipe cache partition

Smart Cleaning - no, but willing to try it
Clear apps cache - yes, several times and restarted phone
Wipe cache partition - this is a last resort for me. I know I'm going to lose data if I do this....but will not rule it out.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate them.

Agreed, not great but at least it was"the devil you know"... I do have an SD card, but it has been good up till now. No previous issues with it. I may try running it without it as a test. If I do, I'll let you know how it went. Thanks for the advice.

You won't lose data clearing the system cache, it is not the same as a factory data reset. You might lose some temporary files, so it's a good idea to backup your photos, notes, etc.

Ok, status update.

Today seems to be a better day. Unplugged the phone at 6 am, and it is now 8 am and the battery has dropped to 94%. that is a lot better than yesterday. There were two incoming calls lasting a few minutes each. I did the Smart Cleaning and the Clear apps cache. Not sure if that was the "fix" or not, but I am a little happier this morning than I was yesterday. Still the same to culprits as the high battery usage, Android System and Kernel.

I hear ya..... My phone was running like a will oiled machine before the update...not anymore.

If clearing cache doesn't help, don't be afraid to do a factory data reset. There are lots of good guides on how to backup everything you need to keep. Make sure to set phone up as a new device. It's like getting a new phone.

The update seemed OK, no major problems until I realized my battery was draining faster than normal. So after reading these posts I cleared the cache partition and my battery life has skyrocketed since yesterday. I left work with battery at 100% and was outside in the sun on my lunch break for an hour with brightness was at 100 percent and I was reading news and playing Pokemon Go and when I got back to work my battery was only down to 94%! Usually I'd be down to almost 80%. Not bad! Could have been an app or something that was not running right after the update.

AARRGGHH!!!!!!! Same issue again this morning. Battery drained down to 23% by 10 am. I switched to the second battery and am watching it.....CLOSELY!!!!!

Can you post screen shots of your battery usage?

Can you remind me how to clear cache like this? Thanks
