Now that Verizon supposedly turned on nationwide 5G...Anyone getting it? Show us your speedtest :-)

It’s not going to be anything ....

Yeah I'm finding it difficult to be excited about this. Over in the S20 forum Mike Dee linked there seems to be a buzz like a new OS was dropping. Since it isn't really going to give me anything, like new features or options, I just can't get worked up for it. I'll still be connecting to the internet only now I'll have my results in 2 milliseconds instead of 4.

Thanks for the link Mike Dee.

Well according to Verizon's coverage map 5G doesn't look nationwide to me.

I live in an area that was suppose to have gone to 5G yesterday. No updates are pending on my Note Ultra, and I still just see 4G on my phone. Not that I'm expecting much out of this "nationwide" 5G version, but at least it'd be a start.

I see some are suggesting we may need to wait for Android 11. That would pretty disappointing since the phone was advertised as a 5G ready phone when I bought it.

Give it 20 years and the more populated area's of the nation should have something resembling 5G... basically the eastern half of the U.S. I doubt the more rural parts of the west will get it in a lot of our lifetimes....if ever. They'll probably come out with something "better" before they ever spend the money to truly build a 5G nationwide infrastructure. I think it's more of a "shiny new thing" to get people's attention and money.

The entire map is almost all red which is 5G, however the dots are UltraWideBand
Here's a screenshot showing the legend.

So it's basically 4G with a new name 4G LTE. There's a little pick up in speed, nothing to jump up and down for. This is Verizon just trying to claim most 5G coverage IMO. There's still no reason to run out and buy a 5G phone IMO

The entire map being almost all red... that's 4G coverage. The darker red and circles... 5G. too many splotches of 5G darker red to say it's covering "the entire map."

That came out wrong. I was looking at a close up of an area where they added 5G to many areas but not UltraWideBand

Zoom to your area to see if you have 5G Nationwide which is low band.

Yup Verizon is rolling out OTA but still September Patch Firmware N986USQU1BTJ2.

No 5G out here in the woods where we live. Lucky to see 3G and sometimes a 1X signal. :-\

Verizon locked just received it's second update this morning.

Faster speeds would be nice but when it gets down to it, all I really need is to be able to stream whatever I wish when I wish and surf the web without slow downs.
