Verizon update 7/10

My phone is awesome again! I installed the update yesterday night and had the chance to test everything out for a full day today. With the original lollipop update, my wifi was really buggy (didn't get notifications, slow connections, etc.) and my battery was useless (maximum 3 hours of SoT). After this newest update, my wifi and battery is back to normal. I got 5hrs 30min of SoT with 10% left.

Did you download it via upgrade notification or did you sideload it? It sure sounds like you sideloaded an unofficial bogus version because an official update would never include any games.

Never accept an OTA update with a rooted phone. You should block/freeze system update.

I took the update the day it was released. It fixed the WiFi synch issue. Battery life is a hair better. Used to get 3-3.5 hours SOT. Now 3.5-4 hours, screen at 30%. Still not as good as I want, but it helps. I travel a lot through bad cell service, this didn't fix the issue of a draining battery when in bad service, something I wish they would do.

After working fine at home all day Saturday, I had the WiFi sync problem again Sunday. And Hangouts calls also stopped coming through. Since it had worked all afternoon Friday at work, where my ISP has no IPv6, I went into my home router and changed it from Tunnel 6to4, to disabled. Tunnel 6to4 worked before the Friday update. That seemed to get it working again. Now that could have been a temporary Google problem, but seems strange it started working after disabling the tunnel.

I don't know, I haven't really read much by others about it. But I frequently drive in the middle of nowhere and I know it's an issue for my phone. Mine will get hot just sitting in my pocket trying to find service. My wife's droid maxx does not when we are together in the middle of nowhere. Her's of course dies faster than when in good service, but doesn't drain like mine.

My phone does the exact same thing. Get hots, battery dies faster when searching for service in a bad area. Tempted to just turn it off in times like that.

I put mine on airplane mode when I'm not using it in bad cell areas.

My battery life is noticeably worse since the latest update. Was great now I can't make it through the day. Any suggestions? Did the update fry my battery?

I can't see how the OTA would fry the battery, but I also can't say without a doubt that it's impossible. I cleared the cache on mine and then shut down and pulled the battery for about 30 minutes. I restarted the phone and after a day or so, my battery was as good as it was on KitKat. Some folks have reported that their phone worked better if they did a factory reset after taking the update and started fresh. You lose nothing if you begin with clearing the cache and restarting (after the battery pull), then moving on to the reset if necessary.

I had to do a factory reset to calm my battery drain down. Factory reset after an update is pretty much a given. At least for me...
