Verizon users... message + or Samsung's messages app?

No, the Samsung app can't send texts over wifi. That feature in the Verizon messaging app saved me when I was in Lake Tahoe for a few days. The house I was staying at had no Verizon cell coverage but there was internet access and wifi so I was able to keep in touch with people via sms.

I have tried Hangouts messages and messenger, all of these have this strange issue. When I switch to another app from these three And return most often I find myself in a completely different message thread. I have been watching for a thread that someone starts with this problem but I have not seen one. I am starting to think I must have a setting issue. Could anyone give a suggestion? Please. Thanks !!

If the stock app would allow you to opt out of or mute group messages it would be perfect. Until they change it, I use V+.

I love syncing msgs with my Tab S2 so the Verizon Mesaages+ is perfect for that but I do hate the fact that it has iPhone like emojis and looks horrible.

I wish either Android or Samsung would have this feature by default on their stock text app.

I've been using Textra. When Verizon released their WiFi Calling update, somehow we can now also send SMS/MMS over WiFi, as long as the app can do it. And as far as I know, Textra is the only app that can (other than Verizon Messages, but it's so ugly).

I tried on Google Messenger, but it could only send SMS over WiFi. MMS still required LTE. Which is a bummer, because Google Messenger is the best looking out of them all.

I've used Message+ with my last 2 phones and now on the S6. I really enjoy the customization options and it works well for me. I have used Textra and Hangouts, plus stock messaging apps, and have surprisingly liked M+ best. Just my preference....

Thank you for asking this question. I've been going back and forth ..but I think I like Samsung messages best.

Message+ is great for me because I switch phones from time to time and it keeps all of my messages synced/backed up. I can also use it on my tablet.

My only knock against the Samsung messaging app is that it will not allow you to mute a group message.
