Just got a V30 from Verizon and its all good except for bluetooth audio. When connected to my head unit in my Subaru the bluetooth audio is very badly distorted. Ive tried a few things already, including a factory reset and no change. It'll have to go back if this cant be fixed. Any ideas on settings or anything I might be missing?

Try changing the volume levels on both the phone and the car. Typically the phone volume should be all the way up and then adjust the car to the volume you want. Have you tried your phone with a Bluetooth headset or another car with Bluetooth? Have you tried the car with another phone? How did they differ?

Might be because you're now on Bluetooth 5.0. It has roughly double the speed and data capacity as 4.2.

It should be backwards compatible to make this a non issue

I agree. Just noting that is not 100% identical and might need to adjust settings. For instance, on my car's radio I have the bluetooth setting set to boost audio level, and I have my phone equalizer set to boost even more from that side. Its the only way to sound decent. With 5.0, I might have to change those.

5.0 should be no different for music from what I can tell. Sounds like you've got a dud, I would return it for a replacement.

Yeah, sounds like a bogus unit (if it doesn't work in your other car). Just return it.

The S8 and LG V10 both sound fine in the same car. The S8 is also bluetooth 5.0 by the way. The V30 sounded fine with my Sony soundbar at home, and with a cheap battery powered bluetooth receiver. I guess it just didn't like my car for whatever reason. I ended up returning the V30. What kind of sucks is that I traded my S8 in for it and paid $240 to do the upgrade. So I am now using my old V10 that I had kept as a backup. It still works fine other than it needing a new battery (or two). I guess the big plus is that my monthly bill is now about $42 less a month since I'm not paying monthly on the S8 and I also cancelled my phone insurance since the V10 is old and not worth anything anyway. On another note, I swear that my car's stereo sounds even better with the V10 over bluetooth than the S8, but It could be all in my head.
