Anyone else have Verizon and do not have the auto call forwarding option? Why?

It's crazy because it's not in mine. It only has the option of turning it on or turning it off. No auto feature. Any thoughts of what to do?

On your Gear S, Settings app->Call, there is a configuration called 'Auto call forwarding'. You can turn it on or off. Keep in mind the name of the setting :)

I know Verizon version has a different firmware (which is quite behind than other Gear S versions) but this should be similar.

You can also configured it on your phone via Gear Manager Gear Manager->Settings->Auto Call Forwarding). It is the same setting. The actual forwarding work is done by the phone but initiated by the watch.

This is what my options say

Looks like you get short changed by Verizon :) The wording is totally different on my AT&T version and the Gear Manager. I know the Verizon watch also lacks a connection status display on the watch to indicate whether it is connected via BT, remote connected or stand alone.

VZW apparently only offers manual call forwarding. That would suck. The auto disconnect and re-connect feature when the watch and phone are in/out of range is one of its most compelling features; at least for me.

I heard too many stories that Verizon didn't fully implement the conditional forwarding required in all the markets. Who knows.

Here are screen shots of my AT&T version and Gear Manager:

Yea it's one of the reasons I wanted it. Didn't know it didn't have it. But oh well.

Did you try turn it on and see what happens? Maybe Verizon just wants to cover its legal base but re-word the functionality. Remember, when the watch is connected to the phone via BT, the cell radio is auto-turned off. Disable the BT and wait a minute or two to see the remote connection go live, then the forwarded calls. There should be an icon on top left corner of your watch to indicate the forwarding status.

I did notice early when I had it on and went to the store then came home and it reconnected to bt auto and said something like calls will now receive thru handset turn off cf to save battery. So I'm gonna try it later to see once it reconnects if I get my calls

Me thinks auto is the only option you've got.
Go to settings, connections, mobile networks and see if it's on auto . That will save you a ton of battery when the phone and watch are tethered via Bluetooth.

Btw, you can take screen shots on the watch by sliding your finger left to right while holding the power/home button. To send them to your phone go to your watch's gallery and long press the ones you want to send and after check mark shows on them, tap the icon to the left bottom

I'm not talking about mobile networks. We are talking about auto call forwarding

Your watch has no way to manually turn call forwarding on. It does it automatically when step out of tether range but if you've got mobile network set to always off you won't get your forwarded calls. If you've got it to always on you'll waste battery so I added that to attempt to help your other thread about your battery life at the same time.

If you look at my settings I posted it does not have an option for auto call forwarding. I have my mobile network set to auto so their for it will be on its own network when the bt connection is lost. I have to manually turn on call forwarding before I leave my phone at home.

You shouldn't have to turn forwarding off. When you are tethered to the phone your calls won't forward to your watch. When you leave range your phone calls will forward to your watch unless you turn forwarding off. It's a set it once setting.
Turn forwarding on, leave it on, it does the rest.
Make sure you're logged into your Samsung account on your phone, your phone has a data connection of some kind so the forwarding can communicate with your Samsung account as well. Verizon just worded their forwarding option differently than AT&T. It still works the same.

Ok awesome. So what's the difference between that and being remotely connected

Posted via the Android Central App

If you are not connected to the phone via BT, your watch will try to remotely connect to your phone via its own mobile data connection or wifi connection. That is when the call forwarding will be automatically started.

Of course, with a Verizon watch, it is hard to tell when you are connected via BT and when you are remote connected because Verizon removed such indicator :)

Here's what the respective manuals say. Sounds like they work the same way. But then again it's pretty unclear why there would need to be two different sets of instructions if all the functionality is the same. VZW's need to control and alter the universe (that and CDMA) is one of the reasons I left them long long ago.

So it's pretty much the same thing except worded differently I'll try it out see what happens
