Verizon won't let me upgrade =(

You could switch carriers... Both T-Mobile and Sprint (soon) have the Nexus One, which is almost identical to the Incredible.

I'm not really antsy. I can wait a few months. The only reason I tried to do it now is since my gf's plan just finished up, she wants to upgrade her phone. She currently has an LG EnV2 and has to do this weird hang it off a ledge just to get it to charge trick.

Since she wants to upgrade her phone and we're combining plans, why not try to do it now. That's all.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Its called an AOL (assumption of liability.) Upgrade dates stay the same, you just sign a new contract. Has nothing to do with upgrading. In-fact, your better off keeping them apart and upgrading, THEN switching. That way you keep those ne2's for this time around.

I had TWENTY MONTHS left on my contract and they upgraded me. I paid $199 for the phone including the online instant rebate! You have to keep calling untill you get the "right" agent dont give up!

 No telesales, or CS rep has this ability. This is way up in the chain, not even a call center supervisor can do this. Pretty much only director of the call center if im not mistaken. 5-6 years ago maybe, but when everyone and their brother started release dates for their friends and family, big brother stepped in an put a stop to it.

Is this a joke?

Does that $59.99 include any company discounts? I have a $59.99 calling plan (plus a $29.99 data plan) put my corporate discount lowers that by 19%. I'm still eligible for the annual upgrade though, right?

And actually, according to the VZW website you need a plan minimum of $49.99, not $59.99:

That may be a release for my verizon as they have amped up all kinds of things to direct people to online sales. It really doesnt matter because I cant think of anything off of the top of my head that is above 49 and below 59.

I call *611 once. Told them I wasn't happy with my Storm anymore, I want the new incredible and told them the pricing that would make me happy. The did all of it without too much hassle. Just being persistent and firm. They even ended up giving me half of my new every two since I was 8 months out from finishing my contract.

The CS's name was Matt, he got the $299 2 year contract price for me, gave me half of my new every two and a $100 mail in rebate. That put me at $174 final price after rebate instead of $529 full retail. Like I said I was 8 months or so out, my upgrade wasn't due till Feb. 8th 2011.

So far the way my NE2 has worked every 20 months I get a $100 credit towards a phone. AFAIK I believe if you get the two year contract price you have sign a "new" contract so you will now have 20 months from the time of phone purchase. Least that's the way all my previous phones from Verizon have worked.

Long story short NE2 isn't upgrading, it's an incentive to buy a new phone, it's a $100 instant discount, that way they can get you to sign another two year contract. If you are going to sign a new one anyways and push you're NE2 out further of course they will do it.

*UPDATE*

I e-mailed Verizon and they responded back and changed my new every two date.

I'll be able to upgrade to the Incredible at the same time w/ my GF. The only thing is I don't get the $50 credit that comes with my new every two.

I'll take that to move away from my Storm. I'm so tired of battery pulls.

Thanks for all the advice!

Same exact thing happened to my gf. She had a Storm.. told them she hated battery pulls, etc. They let her upgrade now instead of November. She didn't get the $50 NE2 though, but oh well.

NE2 is $100. They gave me $50 for my NE2 and moved my date out two 20 months for the next ect. I could have elected not to take my $50 "half" Ne2 if I wanted to keep my current NE2 in Feb 2011. Either way glad it worked out for ya bud, you'r gonna love the new phones!

I get a pretty hefty corporate discount and I still can get the NE2

Well, I have emailed and called and been shot down by 5 different people now. Damn verizon won't let me have early upgrade. I can't believe they wouldn't extend this courtesy to a customer that has been with them for about 7 years and just wanted to extend my contract another 2 years. If that new HTC phone was out on sprint I'd switch over now.
