Video Chat App

so the only options are to use an app that the other person your calling has?

There used to be apps that would integrate messengers, like have all in one app (Aol, yahoo, google, etc.) nothing for video chat?

It would be nice to be able to chat with someone who has video on PC with video on my phone. So if they have skype or google chat in gmail with video we can chat using that.

Yahoo! Messenger with the plug in works from phone to PC

rushrl, which version of Qik did you install from the marketplace?
I'm using qik on my Evo phone. I assume every HTC phones would have it.
*note*
(Exclusively for HTC Evo 4G and Samsung Epic).

how can you be sure an app is safe? example Tango(which im sure is fine) is allowed to do things on your phone like change settings ect...

tango is what I will be using. it works great on the iPhone when I tested it tonight.

Yahoo Video Chat works, but it sucks on the PC, for some strange reason it looks okay on the phone but on the PC side the video is too tiny.

ooVoo works, but it doesn't seem to be able to select the front facing camera. If anybody gets it to work let me know.

Oovoo only uses the back cam, and even if you change the setting it won't work... Imma try Tangoo or whatever, the wife has an Epic so we'll see how well it works...

It's amazing how few choices there are for PC-to-Android video chat. I can't believe freaking Yahoo messenger is the leading vendor here. Ironic!

If someone without a FF camera with a Droid X, for example, were to download this app, would they be able to talk to someone with a TBolt through it, but only the Droid X would be able to see the video feed?

Yes, very frustrating.

To anyone who's used Yahoo Messenger on the PC -- is the video quality so small/bad that it's not worthwhile?

Very good question. Any experts out there be so kind enough to chime in on this?

No you can also see through X's main camera. So if you want to see the other person's face, he or she will have to turn the phone around making him/her unable to see you. A workaround would be if the X owner sits or stands in front of a mirror.

I have tried using Tango tonight, just got the Thunderbolt yesterday and my brother got it today....When we used it, only the rear cameras were working. Also he could see the picture from my camera but i could only see the picture from my own camera. there also wasnt the window that usually holds my video in it. I see some people here are saying that they used Tango on the TB. Is there a reason y mine isnt working?

I also tried Fring and it worked better in that he could see his my video with the small window within the screen with his video, and i could see his with mine inside. Only problem was it only used the rear camera again.

It kinda sucks that this phone has the FFC without any real software that works with is so it really had no purpose til skype comes out

I tried Tango, Yahoo messenger and couldn't find Qik live video messaging. Only found Qik video camera which only has record (capture & share your moments) messages (compose and view video message) my videos (manage & share your videos) as choices. I'm in Nassau county NY and I am on the border of 4g/3g. Both Tango and Yahoo messenger are horrible for me. Video freezes, feedback and grainy video quality. Maybe there is something that I am not enabling?/disabling? Did I download the wrong Qik? Thanks in advance.
