Video of HTC One drop test

Ermahgerd aluminum is the bestest duh this video is biased. ALUMINUM > EVERYTHING.

(god these videos are stupid)

Drop tests are always stupid, it's impossible to simulate the same drop for each phone. But I think there's actually something to take away from this certain one. I don't think the One is going to fare as well to drops like other phones such as the iPhone 5, S4, or even the Droid DNA, and it's primarily thanks to the speaker grills on top and bottom of the phone. Most phones you only have to worry about the screen getting damaged in a drop, with this phone you have to worry about the screen and two speakers if it falls on its face. I don't know how fastened or sturdy the speaker grills are, but it's disheartening to see it pop off and unable to put back on after one drop.

i agree its a shame about the speaker grill, lets hope it was an unlucky angle!

Yep drop tests are totally worthless. I've seen video's where a phone is used to hammer a nail in and nothing happens to the phone. I've seen 5 video's of drop testing between the G2 and IP4s and each one came out different. Don't get me wrong I love watching people destroy stuff so more power to them. The one thing I do have to say though is, in the future just send me the phone you plan on drop testing instead of drop testing it. Especially ones that are not yet available in the states and yet your clearly standing in LA with it!!

Geesh Aluminum dents so easily...Thats why I always get cases on my phones

You get a case because you have common sense lol

After watching this video, I think it's clear as day that the HTC ONE does not have that exceptional build quality that's always touted.

Great build quality wouldn't have the phone falling to pieces like that nor be so dented.

Even the guy in the video talked about build quality but where is it?

I doubt as easily, I have dropped my phone a few times no dents...just scuffs which I can wipe off with my shirt

Yep.

Also the s4 feels different from the s3.

The Samsung rep came by my job showing it off yesterday and is a beauty. The features that I played with actually work well.

The back has a different design

HTC One Teardown - iFixit

iFixit gave the HTC One a repairability score of 1 out of 10. The battery is buried beneath the motherboard and the display according to them is impossible to remove without basically taking the phone apart. If someone ever has a battery issue or something as simple as dropping their phone and cracking the screen happens, you're more than likely getting a brand new phone from sound of this. That is if you have warranty. If not, you're pretty much screwed.

You mean insurance right?

But yeah that's bad news

HTC is trying to become Apple with that...it seems all they care about now is money

Yeah, sorry mate.

I hope they'd care about money, if this phone doesn't do well they're more than likely going out of business. The phone looks great and they tried to go for something daring with the "gapless" design, I just don't know how practical it is. It looks like you'd be much better off with a case for this phone and not taking any chances. But a huge point of this phone is supposed to be the look and feel of it and how well it compares to plastic. Well, putting it in a case defeats the purpose of the design since you'll end up holding plastic anyway.

Anybody else cringe when the phones hit the ground? Almost got a tear in my eye watching perfectly good phones being so abused.

Yeah that sucks. But the good thing is that it's harder to damage the phone's internals on the One.

Not really sure what this test is suppose to prove.

Is it trying to say that if you drop a phone on it's face that it will crack the glass?

What a waste of 2 good phone!

It proves that there are people out there that are dumb enough to think drop tests have even the slightest bit of credibility.

This is from me, on my EVO 3D.
