Video resolution from streaming services?

I have a S21+ and when I try to watch a video on Disney+, the listing says it will play in HD, despite the video being available in 4K ULTRA HD and HDR10.

On Netflix, the listings only say HDR.

I can't tell whats happening on Amazon.

I understand that Verizon throttles video resolution. How can I know what resolution I am actually seeing?

In Netflix i think you have to purchase 4k content not sure about the others

The S21+ screen only has 1080 resolution, so it can't possibly display a 4K video (2160), or even 1440. There's no point wasting bandwidth by streaming to your device at a higher resolution than the device can display.

If your carrier throttles video streaming and thereby limits the resolution even further, you can get around it by using either WiFi or a suitably configured VPN. The Netflix FAST app measures the bandwidth you're getting for video streaming, and you can calculate what resolution that bandwidth supports. I don't know of a direct way to measure the resolution you're getting, though, unless your streaming service provides that information.
