Videos and Music are not saving to my SD card

Hi all,
First off, I am new to Android and have been using a windows phones since 2010 so I am still trying to get used to the settings, etc. Window 10 mobile has been too unstable for me lately, so I decided to give an Android phone a try. So, the Moto X pure edition is my first android experience and it has been really nice so far. The phone does tend to heat up a little, but I have found not having the case on helps.

Anyhow, I have an issue with videos that I record or any music that I download, not being saved on my SD card. I have the sd card set as portable, so I am not sure what I am missing here. Any tips or advice? Thanks a bunch.

Also, this is my first ever so called Flagship phone (though I know this has been out for a year now) but compared to my 640, 830 and old windows 7 phones, wow this phone is extremely fast, very fluid, and the camera is really good and very quick.

Open the camera and swipe right from the left edge to open the menu, spin the wheel to the "sd card" looking icon and tap it, and then select "SD Card"

I have that selected already. I should have prefaced that my pictures are being stored on the SD but not the videos.
