Excuse my ignorance but I'm looking at this phone for my mom. Does the Moto G work on Virgin Mobile?

Thanks,
Rob

From my understanding, it will not work on Virgina Mobile yet. Virgin will need to sell their own version.

Hi,
I'm in the UK and use mine with a Virgin sim. In UK its Virgin Media. Not sure where in the world you are so 'Virgin mobile' may not be the same thing.

Very good point! I'm in the US, I believe Virgin in the US uses Sprints network, which is CDMA. CDMA phones (3G) phones do not use SIM cards.

Yea, I'm in the US. Thanks for the info, strav22. Disappointing because Virgin Mobile is the carrier she is on and the Moto G is the perfect phone for her.

No confirmation from Motorola on whether or not a version on the Moto G will be available for Virgin Mobile.

There are comparable priced pre-paid carriers in the US that would support the Moto G. If she's on Virgin she should not have a contract and be able to switch pretty easily. Something to think about.

Thanks, strav22. I'm not familiar at all with pre-paid carriers/plans. Could you give some recommendations I could look into?

There are a lot of options, really depends on her use (how much data used on average and how many phone calls) and coverage area. I'm on T-Mobile, coverage is great in my area. I found two articles below that give you options. Just make sure to avoid anything that is Sprint or Verizon backed, they wont' be compatible with the GSM version of the Moto G.

My Top 5 Picks, no particular order:
1. Tmobile
2. AIO
3. STRAIGHT TALK
4. METRO PCS
5. Cricket

Dont understand this question surely with a MOTO G like any other phone when bought SIM free, you can then purchase (or get free) a virgin sim?

I know VM's phone DON'T use SIMs. But on Cricket, when you buy a HTC One SV or a Samsung Galaxy S3/S4, you get a SIM card. I dunno the deal wif that cause Sprint is Cricket which is CDMA.

Those phones are 4G LTE phones. Require SIM.
