If you want the evo for 4g you are wasting your time.

First, this is not true 4g. it will use Sprint's WiMax network for 4g, which is TERRIBLE. Extremely poor coverage and not even worth the time because Sprint is switching from WiMax to LTE. Peak download speeds, according to Sprint, are 10mbps. Better than 3g, but it doesn't even come close to LTE or HSPA+ download speeds.

if you want to see if you get ANY "4g" WiMax in your state check this link.

Well, any upgrade is good for most people. This phone is better than the other phones vm has. Thanks for the link though ^^.

Yeah, the other specs on the evo 3d are more than enough for me to overlook the "4g" aspect of it.

Wow, that was rather melodramatic, no? 10mbps will load most webpages and video content fairly quick. Calling that speed TERRIBLE in all caps is such an exaggeration.

If 4g is TERRIBLE then what would you call 3G?

Excuse me.... I know it's hard to believe but that info on the sprint website is outdated to say the least... Clearwire's site is where you want to go to get updated Wimax coverage since apparently they have turned on at least half a dozen sites in Nebraska (where I am) and Nebraska isn't even listed from that sprint link
Just didn't want anyone to pass judgment without having all the (updated) facts
That is all
It's Clear.com I believe

That's odd. Comparing Sprint to Clear's WiMax coverage, everything looks the same! The only major provider that has 4g coverage in Nebraska right now appears to be Verizon. Better yet, you can check VM's website for yourself and see that hardly any areas are covered with 4G (nowhere in Nebraska unfortunately). Can you source your facts?

It is terrible though. Calling WiMax true 4G is simply false. WiMax speeds are much closer to standard HSDPA, which is 3G. I'm not trying to say this isn't a nice phone, but I don't think too many people will be swooned over from Verizon & AT&T for shoddy 4G coverage that will never expand further.

Most people don't need more than 10 down/ 5 up for smartphone use. If you need more than that, it's probably because you're watching HD videos

Oh jez here we go comparing apples and oranges again.. Find fast 4g with a better handset for $35 a month and I would listen.. It just isn't out there now this is and wimax is history soon so why go there.. I'm 3G here in my local and could care a less about 4G.. I get it if you use it and think other wise.. This is a no contract 4G handset and that is just what the doctor ordered.. And it is awesome that the Evo V 4G is on a no limit 4G network with no contract for $35 a month.. Fantastic!!

Dude wimax isn't really 4g NOW but when it was released there wasn't anything faster on mobile devices hince why sprint called it 4g and Btw I avg almost 10mb on full wimax bars which is hella faster than 3G

Sprint Community: List of current or announced 4G/WiMAX cities
and if you bothered to zoom in on clearwire's map you would see the green splotches over several towns in southeast NE..... soooo yeah i'm pretty much better than you in every way... LOL just kidding because i was just pointing it out to begin with, using such harsh words to describe a technology does seem odd to me though. and i have spoken with some people with wimax sprint phones here and they have confirmed it's availability.

anyways, i do agree that it is a nice phone and i'm actually not that excited about the 4g... er wimax(not really 4g if you want to get official) as i will probably not be using it much as i live outside the green splotch in Lincoln (sadface) and just as a comparison my cable broadband (maybe you wouldn't call it broadband?) is running at 10 meg down and 1 up, so if i can get that without wires in downtown lincoln NE... well i don't know what i will do with my nerdy self will i? i guess my porn will load faster? yay!

honestly no hard feelings k?

Went about a mile from my home and 4G kicked in and with only 1 bar it's faster than 3G that is a fact.. Every thing worked twice as fast and that's a improvement I can see.. May not be real 4g to the city folk but this is big out here in the sticks I tell ya...
