Virtual Keyboard

I rarely use anything but swype and the physical keyboard but I was trying out the android keyboard since upgrading to 2.2 and noticed that there is no auto-correct anymore. On 2.1 it would correct me but now it doesn't. I've tried factory resetting the device but that doesn't work, any ideas?

I had a similar issue. I ended up switching to 'betterkeyboard 8', which is good for me. I did however go back to my stock keyboard a few days later and tada...auto select was back on. Ended up switching back over anyway because i prefer either better keyboard or vlingo's keyboard

you can download "gingerbread keyboard" from the market. it's free, and has the auto correct feature, and in my opinion is much better than the stock keyboard

what is the name of the gingerbread keyboard. and which of the two are better, better keyboard 8 or the gingerbread one

I just typed in gingerbread keyboard and it's the one with a little gingerbread man in the icon. Better Keyboard requires you to unlock it so i think it cost me 3 bucks....less than the price of a beer...but maybe on the pricier side if you don't know what youwant. I would recommend looking at the screenshots of the keyboards and you will see how they differ.

Also, i'm not trying to be captain obvious here so don't take this the wrong way but did you check out the keyboard settings....menu-->settings-->language and keyboard. In any event both gingerbread and better keyboard will auto correct

I already tried going in to the settings and I have checked off everything that needs to be checked. I also just downloaded keyboard for android, I believe this is the gingerbread one you were speaking of. So far so good

That's the one. Maybe play around with a few. I have 3 separte ones, not includin default. Vlingo because i have that installed for other reasons(not a bad keyboard though) and it works well with its voice tech. but keyboard for android is a definite update

This keyboard is amazing. And with autocorrect you can blindly type and it still make normal sentences.

I think SwiftKey is the best. It "learns" very quickly and seems to read your mind!
