Visual voice mail

I have an at&t S7E running the new android 7 software.
I have the stock version of the visual mail app but it doesn't allow me to view the text of incoming voice mails.
is this normal? I called the at&t tech support and they told me that the new software does not allow visual reading of voice mails. I think they are full crap and they don't know what they are talking about.
do you guys have any idea how to solve this problem?

AFAIK AT&T's visual voicemail doesn't have transcription.

I have AT&T VVM, and I do have transcription. I wonder if it's something different with Marshmallow vs Nougat or the S7e vs the MXPE.

Is there any setting that need to be set up in order to get the transcript?

My experience is that AT&T's Visual Voicemail had the transcription feature removed when I went from the Galaxy S5 to the S7 Edge. It's a real shame and I haven't found a suitable replacement.

That must be the case. I had the transcript on my note 4 but it was not longer available with the note 7 and the s7 edge. In my opinion the transcript is a neat feature and it's a shame that at&t in there infinite wisdom got away from it!
