[Vivo XL] Why can't I dismiss notifications from my Lock Screen?

I recently purchased a BLU Vivo XL. It is running android 5.1 lollipop, as well as it's own "Skin". (I am coming from windows phone, but I believe that is the terminology).

I get notifications on my lock screen, but for whatever reason I cannot get rid of them/dismiss them unless I unlock the phone, and go to the notification center. Is there a way to change that? I feel like there should be. Thoughts?

Welcome to Android Central! Is this with all notifications, or only ones from certain apps? If it's with all notifications, it might just be a peculiarity of Blu's firmware.
